Hi I'm HD Sanderson

I've grown up all over the United States. I love to play soccer. I speak Portuguese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play sports! It is one of my favorite things to do and I love soccer. I've played since I was 4 years old and was Varsity Captain at my high school. Also, I really liked Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps when I was in high school. I served as the commander of my school's unit and it felt great to be a leader and to be able to help other cadets in various stages of their lives! I recently finished my first year of college and am hoping to major in Political Science. After my first year, college has made me more excited to further my education than ever before! I also hope to make my school's soccer team in a few years! Other hobbies of mine are just everyday things. I like playing video games, hanging out with friends, going to the movies, fishing, surfing, and pretty much anything else. I always enjoy getting out and doing things so that I'm always busy and never just sitting around!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Church is true! I have only been a member since I was 10, but the experiences I have had in the Church as I've grown older have made me the person that I am today! I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and that He is always there for me when I need Him. I know that He listens to my prayers and answers them so that I can know what He would have me do. When I was baptized, I had been investigating the Church with my family for a few years, but had not chosen to be baptized yet. One Sunday, there was a baptism after church and I asked my mom if we could stay. I hadn't seen a baptism before and this person was one of my friends. We stayed after and as soon as I saw my friend get baptized I felt the Spirit of the Lord inside of me and knew without a doubt that I wanted to get baptized too! If I didn't believe the Church was true and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth by Joseph Smith, I definitely wouldn't be going to serve as a missionary in Brazil for the next two years of my life! I know that my Heavenly Father will bless the lives of all who I teach, and will bless mine and my family's lives for being so willing to serve. Again, the Church is true. It was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith along with the translation of the Book of Mormon. I know that anyone who reads it and then prays with sincere intent will know that these things are true as well. I say all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

While at college, I was able to participate a great deal in my ward! We were a young single adult ward and so everyone there was around my age. Part of what I got to do was serve in a leadership position. I was able to help organize my ward and to help everyone in need. I was in charge of my building and got to make sure that they were helping one another as well as one of the girls' buildings that was across from us. It was great to be able to work with both buildings because I felt like the work I was dong made their lives easier and I made many friends along the way. The level of responsibility I was given was very high for someone my age, but I was excited to rise up to meet the challenge! I was expected to be at many different meetings to discuss the welfare of the members of my ward. We also got to help plan many of the events and activities that took place. We planned things like socials, games, barbecues, and also service projects! Being able to do so much was a great experience and I hope for similar ones in the future!
