Hi I'm Kris

I grew up in Oregon. I love to play Basketball and Ping-Pong. I am an Eagle Scout. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am 21, graduated from high school and attending BYU in Provo, Utah studying to become an actuary. I recently returned from serving a mission for the church in El Paso, Texas speaking Spanish, which was a remarkable experience. Seeing people's lives change was a miracle to behold. I have a job, not the funnest thing to do, but it helps pay the bills, right? Whenever I have free-time, I enjoy playing Basketball with my siblings, destroying my family and friends at Ping-Pong, and a friendly game of laser-tag here and there. Living life for me has been stressful on occasion, especially being in college with tests and finals, but living the gospel of Jesus Christ makes it all quite easier.

Why I am a Mormon

I began as a Mormon because my parents have been raised in the church and in turn, they raised me in the church. I have seen churches that my friends attend and been to youth group activities with my friends, but from seeing their religion, I feel that something is missing there. That is why I am still Mormon. When I attend church meeting and activities I feel the spirit so strongly. I also feel amazing while serving others and sharing the gospel with them. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

In my ward, i have served in various callings and have had many responsibilities. I have been the President of the Deacons and Teachers Quorum, been the 1st Assistant in the Priest Quorum, a ward missionary, and I am currently the Ward Mission Leader. I am actively serving my community by throwing myself into service projects. Being a Mormon and a scout has greatly influenced my service activities because I have gotten to see the process, leadership, and results of service. In all my activities, I have seen how much a simple prayer for help or guidance can make a huge difference. I love to help and serve people. I also served a mission for the church, dedicating 2 years to serving others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel. Such service was a great blessing to me.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

The popular saying by many religions is "we are saved by grace". What Mormons believe concerning that concept depends on how one defines being "saved". Many people believe being "saved" means getting back to heaven and not going to hell. By that definition, we ARE "saved by grace". By the grace of God, all of his children who came to Earth will go back to heaven when we die. Some categorize "saved" as being exalted and living with our Father in Heaven. In the Plan of Salvation, or the Plan of Happiness, Gods children will be judged and receive either a Telestial, Terrestrial, or Celestial Glory. Those who obey the Lord's commandments will be exalted in a Celestial Glory an can forever live in the presence of Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
