Hi I'm Calton

I'm a husband. I'm a dad. I work as a Physician Assistant. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and I love being a Dad. We are just a little family in Pennsylvania doing the best we can, and we love where we are right now in life. As for me, I graduated just a few years ago from college and have started an exciting career as a Physician Assistant. Like most of us, I probably spend too much time working outside the home, but my real work revolves around my family, and we love to do fun things together (my wife makes sure I don't forget how to have fun!). I grew up in Utah, and have spent the last few years in Pennsylvania and I love my surroundings -- especially the mountains where I can hike, hunt, and fish. I also enjoy playing pretty much every sport, from basketball to ultimate frisbee to ladder-ball -- again, mostly just competitive family fun.

Why I am a Mormon

As I strive to become the man that I believe God wants me to be, I find that the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is in perfect harmony with what I have learned through personal study and prayer and I have had many spiritual confirmations regarding the truthfulness of it's teachings. For example, I live very close to many locations which have special significance to the organization of this church. As I visit these sites, I cannot help but feel of the truth that has been restored in those very locations. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I was able to participate from my own home in the solemn assembly when Thomas S. Monson was sustained as the current prophet and while I stood in my own small home, I was completely immersed in the spirit of God and it bore witness to my spirit that this man was truly God's anointed prophet for this time on the Earth. I have read the Book or Mormon, and can testify that it has brought me closer to God than any other book could. I have been inspired too many times by the Holy Ghost to fall out on my testimony now. I know that God lives. I know that he has a plan to save me, and he has a plan to save all of us, His children. I know that he sent His son to this Earth to atone for my sins. He died for me. He was resurrected and now lives again so that I may live again too. The authority and power of God has once again been restored, and I love being a part of this church and this dispensation. I have been so blessed, and blessed be the name of my God!

How I live my faith

Life can get crazy, but the gospel of Jesus Christ is a sure foundation I have come to lean on and trust in. As a young father trying to juggle a new career, little kids, an awesome wife, a house, church callings, and whatever else comes knocking at the door, I find peace in quiet scripture study, daily prayer, self reflection combined with repentance, and sometimes just taking a few steps into the dark -- all the while knowing that my current course is one that God approves of. It is extremely easy for me to get sidetracked from what really matters, and it is a daily, weekly, and monthly inner battle to overcome my weaknesses. I see others who are coming up on many of the life experiences I have just had for myself, and I love to teach them about how they can do better than me. For the last six years I have worked with the young men in my area as they prepare to serve full-time missions, go to college, and start families of their own. While at times I may be able to throw in a few good words of wisdom to them, I find their strength encouraging, and they have trained me just as much as hopefully I have trained them.
