Hi I'm R. Dee Putnam

I'm a retired firefighter/paramedic now working in real estate. I'm a mormon

About Me

I have been happily married for 39 years to the mother of our 3 children and grandmother of our 10 grandchildren. I am a retired firefighter/paramedic. I enjoy playing the guitar and singing, especially with my musician sons. I am an avid hunter and also enjoy fishing with the grandkids. I served in the U.S. Army Special Forces for 3 years and the Army reserves for 9 more years. I recently got a real estate license and intend to start a 2nd career. I have a Masters in Public Administration degree and finished all of my course work for a PhD in leadership/management but was unable to finish my thesis due to a 5 year battle with colon cancer, which I won.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon but gained a strong testimony of the gospel while serving in the armed forces. Upon the conclusion of my military service I served an LDS mission to England and shared my testimony and knowledge of the restoration of the gospel there. I know that God lives and cares about me and my family. I know that Jesus was the Christ the only begotten of the Father in the flesh. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and translated an ancient record of Christ's visit to the Americas, the Book of Mormon. It touches my heart and soul when I read it. I also enjoy reading and studying the Bible. I know that Christ's church is restored to the earth today in it's fullness as "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". I feel extremely blessed to be able to enjoy my membership in His church and to receive the blessings that I and my family have received from living the gospel precepts. I would implore anyone reading my profile to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it with real intent and purity of heart and purpose and I know you will receive the same conviction and conclusion that I have. God bless you all.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the ward mission leader in our church congregation and also as an instructor for our priesthood organization. I and a partner visit a number of families every month as home teachers to give them a gospel message and see if there is any thing we can help them with. My wife and I have recently been called to go on a mission for 23 months to Papua New Guinea. We will be going there the first part of March. We are very excited for this new calling and look forward to serving in this area.
