Hi I'm Vanessa

I grew up and live in England. I'm a wife, mother of four, a practising architect and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and mother to four lively and very different children - two boys and two girls so you can imagine there's always something to talk about, and between them they attend 3 different schools so that keeps my husband and I busy. We enjoy gardening and playing Uno together! I also work as an architect and primarily work on public sector buildings. I had wanted to be an architect since I was a teenanger so when the time was right for our family and I had the opportunity to return to the profession and complete the qualifications for registration several years ago, it was a dream come true! I enjoy the variety that my job brings - I can be discussing carpets and paint in the morning and then be on a construction site in the afternoon to chair a progress meeting followed by working out roof details with the contractor. I love reading - sharing books with my eldest daughter - and writing my personal journal.

Why I am a Mormon

From a young age I had learnt about God and Jesus. I had also often wondered why the Bible was only concerned with a relatively small portion of the world when it was clear there are so many other ancient peoples throughout the world - why didn't we have scripture from those people since God would surely love all His children? So, when I heard about the Book of Mormon being another testament of Jesus Christ it made complete sense to me and I was and am excited to have the whole truth of man's existence in my life. I love being a part of what is real and true - part of God's kingdom here on earth. Even though our lives are busy and varied there is a part for everyone and it is only through accepting and living truth that we can find true peace and meaning in our lives.

How I live my faith

As a family we all attend church on Sundays together and our two eldest children also attend youth activities on an evening mid week. At church I teach the youth Sunday School class so it is great to see our children and their friends ask questions and find answers together. This year we set a goal to go to the temple - about 2 hour drive away - together as a family at least twice in the year; we find this is a wonderful place to be - to see the lettering on the beautiful structure above the doors stating 'The House of the Lord - Holiness to the Lord.' We know our children feel how important the Lord is in our lives and that He is real - this is His holy house.
