Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in Pennsylvania. I'm a fourth generation newspaper publisher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I converted to the LDS church when I was a young father and college student. I'm a fourth generation newspaper publisher and have worked at a number of newspapers across the country. My wife and I have been married for 33 years and we have four living children and five grandchildren with another on the way. Our first child died at five months and our sweet daughter died at the age of 23. I have always worked long and hard at my career so that I could support my family. I love serving in the church and spending time with others while learning about their talents and interests. Spending time outdoors, whether playing with grandchildren or hiking the mountains, is my favorite pastime.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with a wonderful, happy and healthy family, although we didn't attend church together as a family. I felt that there was something missing, so when I first attended the LDS church with my wife, who was a recent convert, I knew that this was something I needed to explore. It felt right. Through learning Gospel principles, working shoulder to shoulder with the LDS church members and going to my Heavenly Father in sincere prayer and developing a relationship with Him; I learned that the true gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored to the earth. This wasn't man's teaching; it wasn't just what made me feel good - it was God's will. I knew it was true and even though I tried to deny it because of my own shortcomings (I didn't think I was worthy to know the truth), through sticking with it, it began to become who I was and it was good. The Mormon church has made me a better person and has helped me to really like who I am and to understand why I am here. Heavenly Father has helped me to understand my purpose in life, where I come from and where I go from here. The Gospel is true and I can't, and won't, deny it.

How I live my faith

I like to learn about my community and how schools and government can affect my life and the lives of my family, friends and neighbors. My wife and I have chosen to live in an area where we are most comfortable and can live the life that we feel our Heavenly Father wants us to live and be where He needs us to be. I love working with our ward and stake members. They are so special in their unique ways and they inspire me to do better as I serve with them and learn from them. Our church and family mean everything to us.
