Hi I'm Emily

I enjoy music and art. I play ten different musical instruments. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a missionary serving in the Russia St. Petersburg Mission, and I love every minute of it! I grew up in Beavercreek, Ohio. I'm the middle child with two brothers - one is 14 and the other is 22, a return missionary who served in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. I am a BYU student studying biology. Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played clarinet in my high school band for four years and played in the BYU Cougar Marching Band my freshman year. I have played piano for 14 years. I enjoy accompanying singers and instrumental solos. I enjoy sitting at the piano and making up my own tunes. I also like to sightread. I also play the clarinet, guitar, alto and tenor saxophone, a bit of flute, ukulele, and the harmonica.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church and baptized at eight. But I did not receive my own testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel until about the age of 14. I read the Book of Mormon and took on Moroni's challenge in Moroni 10:3-5, praying to God and asking with real intent if this book was true, and if it was written by true prophets of God. I felt a peaceful confirmation from the Holy Ghost. That, I think, is when my faith really started to grow. My freshman year at BYU was the first time I lived on my own, and that gave me the opportunity to gain a strong, firm testimony for myself, not leaning on the testimony of others. I had developed a stronger testimony of my Savior than I ever expected to. Being at MTC has only continued to strengthen my faith in the Savior and His gospel. As I continue to live my faith, my testimony grows stronger. I now have a firm, unwavering testimony that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world, and that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God, and those who read it and pray about it will find joy and satisfaction in their lives.

How I live my faith

As a missionary, I am completely devoted to bringing others unto Christ. I feel that missionary work is my personal way to show gratitude for Heavenly Father for everything He has given me in my life. The gospel of Jesus Christ has given me so much joy, peace, and happiness, and I want others to have that in their lives. Even though being a missionary is a lot of hard work and stressful at times, never in my life have I been happier than I am now. I know that this is the Lord's work. I also enjoy service. In the summer; I worked at a local nursing home helping the activity director with activities to keep the residents in high spirits. I played the organ for them and ran endless games of bingo! Visiting and talking with them was always nice as well. I love service because I love making people happy. :) Wherever I am, I strive to be a witness of Christ.
