Hi I'm LeAnne

I'm studying to be a nurse. I'm training a therapy dog. I love horseback riding. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated in 2013 from Utah State University with a degree in communicative disorders. I start nursing school in the fall and want to work as a long-term care nurse, preferable in post-cancer or psychiatrics. In the past I've worked in speech therapy, at a therapeutic horse-back riding center, and as a CNA/Med Tech. I've volunteered with my therapy rabbit, Doublestuf, for almost two years at local rehabilitative facilities. I'm currently training my beagle puppy to be a therapy dog and we are starting basic search and rescue training. I love reading, writing and horse-back riding (I can ride english, western or bareback and love them all!). I play the piano and guitar and I used to play the flute. I can sing alto, and I love singing along to the Band Perry and other country music groups. I'm the oldest of five children, one of which survived brain cancer and has several lingering disabilities. I know a little bit of ASL because of this. I love watching movies; my favorite thing on a hot summer day is a cold dark theater with a bucket of popcorn and a good movie going!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church but I made the decision to continue being a member on my own. Nothing brings me peace in my life like the gospel of Jesus Christ. It helps me look outside myself and become a better person. It increases my faith and helps me to remember the bigger picture. I feel stronger, and valued in the church like I don't feel anywhere else. Everything else I do is influenced by my faith, and I am so grateful for that.

How I live my faith

My faith is a huge part of my life. I worked for one summer as an EFY (especially for youth) counselor and I loved being able to teach and share what I know about the gospel with the youth of the church. I can't always attend church on Sundays because I work in health care, but I go every week I can. I'm also very involved with family history work and indexing. It's a lot like detective work, and I love being able to give back to my ancestors who have given me so much.
