Hi I'm Roberta

I am the mother of one son. I love working with the elderly. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Pocatello, Idaho. I lived there for most of my life. I moved here after the death of my son and then my mother 18 months later to live with my sister. I have two sisters. I live with one of my sisters and my other sister lives close by. Family is very important to me. I enjoy watching plays, writing poetry, going bowling, scrapbooking, watching old musicals, listening to good music, and reading. My favorite book is the Book of Mormon! Music is very important to me. When I was young we would all gather around the piano at my grandparent's house and while my aunt played the piano we would sing music from the good old days when my grandparents were young. Although I love a variety of different types of music such as barbershop, country, soft rock, contemporary religious music, old time music, and music from plays, my favorite musical group is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I have had my poetry published three times.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that we are led by a true prophet of God, President Thomas S. Monson. I know that he is God's mouthpiece upon the earth and that he receives revelations from God on how to direct and lead the church. I am a Mormon because my family is so important to me and families are so important to the church. I know that in the temple I can be sealed to my family for all time and eternity. This gives me faith and courage to go on each day and to know that I will be with my son and my parents who have already passed on and that I can be with my sisters and other family members also. I am a Mormon because of faithful ancestors who came to Utah in the Willie and Martin Handcart Companies as pioneers and forged on through trials and difficulties because they knew--as I know--that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is True! I am a Mormon because the Holy Ghost has testified to my soul that the church is true. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that He lives! He is my Lord and my Redeemer! I know that He died on the cross for you and for me that we might have the opportunity to repent of our sins and be forgiven and gain life eternal. Heavenly Father is the father of our spirits. We are all His children. He is aware of each and everyone of us and our circumstances. He loves us unconditionally! I know that Jesus not only took upon Him all of our sins but He suffered all things for us that he might succour us in our time of need. I'm a Mormon because we have the Book or Mormon, another testimony of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is my favorite book. I love the feelings that stir in my heart and soul as I read and as the Holy Ghost bears witness of its truthfulness and divinity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures and applying the principles I learn in them in my daily life. Also, I have served two service missions for the church. I served a six month service mission at the Bishop's Store House at Welfare Square and a three year service mission as a Temple Patron Missionary at the Salt Lake Temple. My life has been blessed by both service that I have given and service that I have received. I am the assistant secretary to the relief society president, I enjoy my calling and the responsiblities that come with it. I have had the opportunity, in the past, to work in many positions in the PTA as my son was growing up. Additionally, I was a room mother and would go and volunteer weekly in his classrooms. When barcoding first came about, I helped the librarian barcode the entire school library in my son's school library. I love to go visit with the elderly. They have so much to offer. Some of my best friends have been people from the older generation.
