Hi I'm Nate

I am a father, husband, surgeon, and pastry chef wannabe. I love the outdoors and college basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of two. I love birdwatching with my kids. I enjoy the outdoors - camping, hiking and just being outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church to active, churchgoing parents. I have been attending since I was a small child. Going to church has rarely been a question for me - it is just something that I do. When I have missed several Sundays in a row (usually because of my work), I lose some of the optimism and energy that I am usually blessed with. Usually my wife notices first! I have realized that the church and the gospel are at the core of my daily attitude and my life decisions. My faith in Jesus Christ helps me overcome challenges and expect the best out of my future.

How I live my faith

Most of my callings in the church have been in the Young Men's or Scouting programs. The church partners with the Boy Scouts of America to provide a youth program for the boys of the church. This allows opportunities for outdoor activities, learning life skills, and participating in community service, among other things. While working with teenagers can be frustrating, it is rewarding to see them mature and make good decisions. It also gives me a chance to get out of the city and spend time in the wilderness occasionally. We have boys from within and without the church as part of the scouting program. On Sundays I frequently teach gospel lessons to the boys, something I truly enjoy. It helps me to study and learn as well as help the boys grow.
