Hi I'm Amy

I was born and raised in California. I love to sing in the car at the top of my lungs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to do a lot of different things, but I haven't figured out exactly what I'm doing with my life yet. I attend a university in Utah, but I'm currently putting that on hold for a year and a half in order to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My hobbies include painting, drawing, playing guitar, running, biking, swimming, hiking, listening to country music, watching movies, and sleeping.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the church, and so I was raised in this church. But that's not why I am a Mormon. Most of the time growing up, I only went to this church and participated in the activities because it's what my parents wanted me to do. But as I grew older, I had a choice. I could have taken any path I wanted. I chose this one because I came to know for myself of the truthfulness of this church. I no longer rely on the testimonies of my parents, I have a testimony of my own. I know that this is the one true church on the earth and I am so grateful that I am able to be a part of it. I have seen its effects in my life, moving away from home, going to college, if I hadn't had this church to guide me, who knows where I'd be. I rely on the Atonement of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who loves me endlessly and knows and has felt every pain I have felt. I know that God, our Heavenly Father, has a plan for each of us in this life and in the life to come. Being a Mormon has helped me to stay on the right path and to realize what true happiness is and how to find it in my life. It comes from serving others and keeping the commandments of the Lord. I want to be happy. I want to be good. I want to be pleasing to my Father. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every Sunday. I pray often and love to read the words of the Bible and Book of Mormon. I visit other ladies in our church once a month, I look out for their needs and leave them with a spiritual message each time I go. I also teach a group of nine-year old children in Sunday school, helping them to understand important principles, even at a young age. I try to participate in any way I am asked to. Most recently, I applied to serve an 18-month mission for my church. I have been called to serve in an area in Arizona, speaking Spanish. I will learn Spanish and go forth to serve the people of Arizona to the best of my ability, with the Lord on my side. I am putting my college education on hold and will have no contact with family or friends for a year and a half, other than letters and e-mails. But I am doing this because I love the Lord and it is how I'm choosing to live my faith.
