Hi I'm CJ Pronk

I have lived in Utah my whole life, and I plan to be a sports journalist when I finish college. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I was little, sports have been a huge part of my life. Along with sports, I love to write. Put those two things together and my mind works efficiently as ever. Ever since my junior year of high school I have had an internship with Deseret Digital Media, and have written almost 100 articles about various athletic events at my high school for The Deseret News and KSL.com. This has helped me earn a scholarship, and has helped me into a much better writer than I anticipated myself to become. I am now serving full-time in the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission from December 2013-December 2015, and I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it has helped me in so many aspects of my life. I know that without it, I wouldn't have the blessings or opportunities that I have today. I thank my parents for letting me decide on my own that this is His gospel, and for being such great examples to me in my life. I am so grateful that Joseph Smith -- a 14-year-old boy at the time -- had the courage to pray to our Heavenly Father to ask for his guidance when he could not decide what church to join. I know that he saw our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son, and I know that he was a true prophet of God. I am also grateful that he restored the gospel to this earth while being guided by the Spirit of the Lord, and translated the Book of Mormon with the same power. I am grateful for the true prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, and for the guidance that he and all the leaders of our church give to all people, members and non members alike. I know that through the atonement of Christ, we can all become clean and return to our Heavenly Father and His son again someday, no matter our transgressions. It is the greatest of all the gifts that God has given us, and his love is endless. I leave this with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I have been the young men's athletic coordinator for my ward. I was in charge of encouraging the young men of our ward to participate in our church basketball team, and other church athletic activities. It has been a great experience, and has helped me build friendships with many young men from our ward, and surrounding wards as well. I am now serving full-time in the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission from December 2013-December 2015, and I love it.
