Hi I'm Elder Orton

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I will soon be serving in Mexico

About Me

Growing up in a smaller than average rural town, I've had the wonderful chance to experience just how loving and serving a small community can be. I would not change this opportunity under any circumstances. Living in this type of area, I had the opportunity to be involved with basically anything I wanted to be involved with. I was fortunate to be able to participate in: Basketball, Baseball, Track, Cross Country, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Future Business Leaders of America, and Student Councils. I am so thankful for all the opportunities I have been blessed to be able to have had.

Why I am a Mormon

Sometimes we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are said to be strange because of how we live our lives. We devote multiple hours of our time to attending church services, fulfilling personal callings, and serving those around us. We pay one tenth of our income to help build the kingdom of God on Earth and to fulfill a commandment of our Heavenly Father. We don't partake of Tobacco, Alcohol, Coffee, or Green and Black Teas. We believe in and practice chastity before marriage, and fidelity to one's spouse after marriage. To others this seems like such a great sacrifice and a peculiar way to live one's life, but I cannot even express how greatly my life has benefited from living this way. Life isn't easy. There are so many dangerous things to worry about. God is literally our father in heaven. He loves and cares about each one of us and wants us to succeed and find happiness. One way that He provides the opportunity to be happy and kept from the things in life that will drag us down and harm us is by giving commandment unto the prophets for us to obey. Obedience to these will bless our lives in more ways than we can count and will also keep us safe from the dangers of a world with declining moral standards. I can boldly testify to anyone reading this that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints is the most correct of any religion on the earth today. I am limited on how much I can type into this box, but I know that the church was restored by a prophet of God. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I challenge anyone who may be skeptical about the church to read the Book of Mormon and to pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ if the B.o.M. is true. If you do so with a sincere heart, with real intent I can witness unto you that you will receive an answer.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am preparing to serve for two years in another country for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I will be teaching people in Mexico about the restored gospel. I am currently trying to learn Spanish, and preparing for this major change that will occur in my life in a very short amount of time.
