Hi I'm Peter Jensen

I grew up in Washington. I enjoy the arts, mountains and falcon training. Flannel is my favorite color. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been blessed to experienced both rural and urban life. From this I've developed a love for the outdoors and hiking, while also a love art, more specifically photography. I also have a love for all forms of music. My friends and I started a Swing Band this last year, which gained a lot of success. We would play regularly at swing dances every week, with all the money that would be earned being donated to various charities. If I can do something I love and help others at the same time, I am happy. I am currently on a mission in the Brazil João Pessoa mission, after serving on reassignment in the Michigan Detroit mission. But when I return I plan on attending college to pursue computer engineering and radio broadcasting.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am a member for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is very similar to the reason why I am serving a mission. Although I was born into the gospel, there was a time in my life where I was not following it's path very well. I was not truly happy. It wasn't until I stopped and sincerely prayed to God for help that I received that happiness and answers that I had been looking for. After that time, my life completely changed. I knew for myself that God loves and knows me personally, that I am His son, and He has a plan for me. I had purpose, a direction, and I had One who was always there to help me. From that point, I began to truly have joy in my life and experience the happiness Heavenly Father wants for us. This is also why I am serving a mission. Because I was able to make that life saving change, not only through our Savior, Jesus Christ, and His Atonement, but through God's love. And I see so many people all the time, in that state I was in, and I know that this message can similarly help them too. I want everyone to experience that same happiness and joy that has so greatly blessed my life, and the life of my family. I am a Mormon because I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to it's fullness, and I know that it is through Christ's Atonement that we can get a relief of our pains and sins. Similarly, I know that His church has also been restored to it's fullness, and that Christ stands at the head of it. It offers me a path by which I can follow, that guides my life and ultimately will lead me to eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

Right now I currently live my faith by serving a mission in Detroit Michigan, and later in João Pessoa Brazil. As a missionary, I devote 2 years of my life in complete service to the Lord, teaching the restored gospel that Christ taught, standing as a representative of Christ and serving others. I love being a missionary, and wouldn't trade it for the world. It has personally opened my eyes and helped me see just how much God truly loves and blesses us. I've come closer to Christ than I ever have been, and as a missionary, I'm blessed to see that in others too, as we teach and serve them. I live my faith in gratitude to my Heavenly Father, by devoting my time and energy in studying, praying and trying to follow His son, Jesus Christ. It's a simple faith, but I've felt the incredible blessings of it in my life, and seen the difference it makes.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Peter Jensen
Personally, I feel that families are one of the greatest gifts that God has given us. They are a support and an example that we can look to as we grow and learn. The family is a key unit to God's plan for us, and is there to help us progress through life and the gospel. And to add onto that, we believe that Heavenly Father has provided a way that our families can last beyond this life, and for all of eternity. We can read of this in the Bible (Matthew 16:19) when Christ gives Peter the keys, or authority, to seal (bind) things on earth and in heaven. Mormon's believe that this same priesthood, among other things, has been restored to earth once again, and with that same priesthood and keys we can be sealed to our families for eternity. That knowledge alone, has blessed my life immensely, as I've experienced the sadness of losing loved ones. But by having a greater understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and God's Plan of Happiness, I have the knowledge that I can truly be with my family, even after this life. What a blessing that is. Show more Show less
