Hi I'm Sadie

I grew up in beautiful Oregon. I love reading, learning, traveling, and choosing the right. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of six kids in a wonderful family. We live in Oregon where the mountains are green, where the trees bear pears, and where the ocean is only a couple hours away. I love to read and to learn, to write and to think; I enjoy being able to travel and to spend time with my friends laughing, talking and eating. I'm currently studying Spanish culture and language as part of a study abroad program and for my major and I love it! I attend school at Utah State University, and for a while I was pursuing a degree in piano performance. Singing is also something I truly enjoy and right now I am serving as the worship service music coordinator for my congregation.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was eight years old, my father asked me if I wanted to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was my choice, and I treasure this experience in which I learned that. Not being a Mormon might seem easier in comparison, but for me it would be so hard. I am a Mormon because the Gospel makes me happy. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me; I am His daughter, and I have a great work to do as such. Keeping His commandments protects me from the sorrows I see around me--the unhappiness that comes from not doing His will. I have felt the love of God through His Spirit. He has helped me to grow and to learn, and He has blessed me with "tender mercies" that testify of His love for me, His daughter. I am ever grateful for these experiences! I know this church and this Gospel are true. I know that there is a God in Heaven and that He loves me. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God and I know that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of the Lord. I am proud to be a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I've been a Mormon all my life, but I grew up surrounded by people of other religions. Missionary work is difficult but so worth it, and I love to share what I believe. I live my faith by attending church services every Sunday I can, trying to read the scriptures daily, and praying every day as well. I value chastity and modesty, and I don't swear or drink. Every semester I attend Institute, which is an extracurricular program meant to strengthen testimonies through religion classes. I welcome questions about the Gospel because the feeling that comes from sharing my faith and having it received is wonderful. To me, living my faith is just that--a lifelong commitment that must be cared for every day of the week.
