Hi I'm Angelina

I grew up in California. I have a severe case of wanderlust. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a household with parents of different faiths. My father converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was in his twenties and my mother grew up in a very devout Catholic household. When my parents decided to have kids, they wanted us to be able to make the decision for ourselves which church we would go to. I loved growing up in a household that gave me the freedom to choose, celebrated religion as a way to draw closer to God, and taught me the principles of openness and love. I like to think of myself as a secret nerd. On the peripheral, I love hanging out with friends and family, going to movies, playing games, and having a good time. But my passion is in finding ways to improve the health of individuals throughout the world. I can spend hours reading scientific articles about infectious diseases and evidence-based interventions. I have a particular interest in those interventions that make a difference in the lives of those living in developing countries. Clean water and food, access to healthcare, and safe living conditions are things that I don't want to take for granted because so many people in this world don't have access to them.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ makes me a better person, community member, and global citizen. It gives me the perspective that I need to forget my worries, pains, and fears and focus on making a difference in others' lives. It is the root of my passion for loving others and finding ways to make their lives better. I love that being a member of this church and by following it's teachings give me a relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I have come to know of His message and His love. Not only have I learned that He lives but that knows and loves me personally.

How I live my faith

One thing that I have learned about the gospel is its unique ability to provide hope. It is my belief that the greatest sense of hope comes from knowing that our Savior's, Jesus Christ, Atonement created a way for us to be forgiven of our sins so we can live with our Heavenly Father again. Through my understanding of gospel principles and the values my parents taught me I have devoted my life to increase hope in this world. For me, its through increasing public health on a community, country, or global scale. It's my belief that all hope, including a hope of good health, stems from our hope in the Savior. I feel closer to Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, when I see my work make a difference in the lives of Heavenly Father's children.
