Hi I'm Jessi

I grew up in Arizona. I'm a mother of four amazing daughters. I am a choreographer for local high schools.

About Me

I LOVE MUSIC. I love to sing, I love to dance, I love to play the piano, I love to hear others sing, or play... I am crazy about music. If you asked my children what I do all day, the answers they would give would probably be along the lines of, "She cleans too much and listens to music REALLY loud." And the cleaning that I do is not because I'm a neat freak... It's because I have to keep up with all the messes that I'm constantly making :) I love to read. When I walk into my living room and see my four girls reading a book, by themselves or to each other- that makes my heart melt. I love to have reading parties with them. This includes ice cream and books. I also love watching movies with my girls. Introducing them to musicals, or classics that I grew up with. I like to stay active. I prefer to do this through dance. I love to Salsa dance, Swing dance, and occasionally I'll make a fool of myself by trying to do a little hip hop :) I love my girls and I am also very close to my parents and siblings. We are very lucky to all live in AZ. We get together at least once a month. My sisters are my best friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am 30 years old and the mother of four amazing daughters. I am recently divorced and feel like I have been challenged in ways that I never imagined in the last year. I feel very strongly that the Lord prepares for our trials and that if we can just continue to prove our faithfulness in our challenges, we are blessed beyond anything we can imagine. My life is not picture perfect. God has not "fixed" it in the way that I would've originally hoped for, but my testimony of my Savior and His miraculous Atonement has increased in ways that I never would've thought possible. I'm so grateful for the simpleness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe that I'm here to practice being like Him and lifting those around me.

How I live my faith

"If you want to feel good, do good." I believe that the LDS faith teaches me how to do good in this world. For my children, for my friends, and for myself. I think that all the different principles that I strive to live everyday- Scriptures, Prayers, Church Meetings, Service, Etc- are all intended to bring us to Christ. I don't believe that any effort or work that I can do will every be enough to save myself, rather I believe that I am showing my faith and obedience as I strive to be like Him. I strongly believe that there is strength and peace that comes to me when I read the Book of Mormon. I strive to read it everyday by myself and with my girls.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Jessi
I feel that LDS women are highly respected and honored by the leaders and men of the Church. I feel that why we are not asked to hold the priesthood is unimportant. "I have work enough to do". There are already so many important roles that I need to fill and want to give my best effort. I will be held accountable for the service I give as a mother, as a daughter, as a spouse, as a sister, as a friend. I have been called and asked to do many important things. I focus on these duties. I am grateful for the sacrifice and service that is offered by men that hold the priesthood and act in the service of their God, not for their own glory, but for His. I don't need to have the same responsibilities as them in order to feel as valuable as them. I love that when I study the teachings of prophets from the very beginning of the LDS church, I read quotes from leaders and prophets that honor, love, and cherish women. I have never felt anything but admiration from the leaders of this church. Show more Show less
