Hi I'm Marissa

I'm goofy. I'm sassy. I'm serving an 18-month mission in Columbus, Ohio. I'm a BYU Cougar. I love love. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Columbus, Ohio. I love this work. I love being a missionary. It has been the best decision I have ever made in my life. I'm a goofy person. I love to make others laugh, and I love to laugh. Need a joke of the day? Ask me. I've got quite the collection. I'm a BYU Cougar through and through-- I practically bleed blue. However, there is a place in my heart for Ohio State (Go Buckeyes!) I'm sassy, but usually it's out of love. I have diabetes, and I love to talk about it with others. I love puzzles. I love to fangirl. I love love!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm not a perfect person. I make an endless number of mistakes, but I try to be better. Through the things I've gone through, there have been so many small instances that have shown me God does exist and that He cares. It's amazing to think that, small and insignificant that I am, God still cares about me and wants me to succeed and be happy. I know that trials are given to us for a reason. I've been able to understand and relate to others so much better because of having dealt with depression and diabetes. So many opportunities to serve others have arisen from these trials, that I would never have found before. Honestly, I would not trade my life for another, even if that meant I would be perfectly healthy. I know that God knows us and blesses us individually, and that He places people and situations before us that will be for our good. There is no doubt in my mind that He exists.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by doing all of the things that God has asked me to: keeping the commandments, being baptized, going to church, praying, reading my scriptures, serving others. I know without a doubt that the reason I am so happy today is because I am focusing on Jesus Christ and becoming closer to Him as I help others come closer to Him. It's hard sometimes to live my faith. Before my mission, I would never have gone up to a stranger and talked to them about Jesus Christ. I was super shy! However, I have learned that when I do those things that are hard, that are right, that God will make up the difference. He has allowed me to help bring people closer to Him as I open my mouth, even when it's hard. I'm far from perfect, but as I exercise my faith, I grow closer to God and to my Savior.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Marissa
There are so many blessings one can receive from reading the Holy scriptures. One blessing I have seen in my own life is a greater amount of happiness and peace. Scriptures are truly a source of peace in this world. They are a way that God can lead and guide His children today. Through scriptures, we can receive answers to the questions of the soul. Scriptures also allow us to learn more about Jesus Christ. He is our Savior, and He is spoken of throughout the scriptures. We learn more about His attributes and how to become more like Him through reading the scriptures. Show more Show less
