Hi I'm Vickie Nelson

I'm an expert taco maker. I LOVE running, being a missionary and my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to make art. I feel at peace when I am outdoors: running, hiking and exploring. I attended University for 2 and a half years in Alberta studying Graphic Design and Fine Arts (sculpture, photography, print making, painting and drawing). I had the opportunity to be an apprentice working on the decorative painting in the Calgary Alberta Temple. I will never forget the experiences, people and miracles I was privileged to be a part of there. My family is everything to me and I miss them while I serve my 18 month proselyting mission at Salt Lake City UT Temple Square. I'm sure they miss me too but I know helping people to come closer to God is the most important thing there is to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't that interested in learning about the teachings of Jesus Christ when I was teenager. I went to church because I had good friends there, which I am so thankful for now. Finally when I wanted answers for myself and to be happier through a relationship with Heavenly Father. So I read the Book of Mormon, prayed to ask my Father in Heaven if it is true and received the answer for myself. I know this Book is the word of God, specifically written by the ancient prophets for me to guide and direct me. I know because the answer I received when I asked was the over whelming feeling of love that came from Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost. Before I had read and gained a testimony I leaned on this simple but pure knowledge: God loves me and would not lead me astray. I continue to feel His love as I read and seek for important answers to my everyday questions adn concerns. I can also find answers from going to church, watching mormon messages on lds.org and from the influence of the people I love.

How I live my faith

I am the first woman in my family to serve a mission. After the mission I want to become a church educator for youth. I love this opportunity I have to serve a mission and to let people from around the world know that they are children of God and that they are loved. Often people do not see their personal potencial. Whether this is from media, peer related or self inflicting. I want to be a tool in God's hands to let them know who they are and why that matters. Every single person matters because they were born heirs to the kingdom of God. We are all God's children and all deserve to have a chance to learn about this.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Vickie Nelson
Yes. Ha ha ha its that simple. We believe God had prophets prophesying of His Son jesus Christ from Isiah, Moses, Noah and so on. We also believe He has not stopped showing his love for us (why would He not love us we are His children) so he has sent other prophets in times of old (in the Book of Mormon) and presently to guide and direct us. You can read from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and modern day prophets on lds.org. My favorite prophet from the Book of Mormon is Nephi and my favorite modern day prophet is the current prophet Thomas S. Monson. Show more Show less
