Hi I'm Karly

I'm a stay at home mom. I love learning new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I did calculus on our third date and it was awesome! He helped me embrace my inner nerd. I like puzzles. I enjoy reading anything new, so I like magazines and newspapers and a good novel when I can find one. I studied computer science, graduated in elementary education, taught school for two years and now I'm staying home with my two boys. I'm learning a lot about nutrition and cooking these days. I'm surprised by how hard motherhood is and by how satisfied I am in teaching and caring for my boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and raised as a Mormon. In college I realized that I could attend whatever church I wanted. Or none. It was up to me. It was then that I realized that I was happiest living as a Mormon. I knew I didn't want to drink or smoke. I knew I wanted to live the law of chastity. I even knew I wanted to pay tithing. That these things made me happy. It was then that I realized that God has given us these commandments not as a constraint or as a way to puff up His ego, but as the true way to happiness. I realized that He knows how we can make our way through this life and has been kind enough to give us that light and knowledge. I have had many experiences since that time that have strengthened my belief in God. I feel a closeness to Jesus Christ and find solace in the Atonement. I have felt the nearness of heaven through the power of prayer. I see the good works of the prophet and apostles of the Lord and believe their words. When doubt and uncertainty creep in, I always go back to that moment in college and determine to live the gospel, to keep going until I know more. Some days it feels like I know very little. But I believe it. I believe it with all my heart.

How I live my faith

I was assigned to help those people who had a hard time or special needs that couldn't easily be met by family. I loved that assignment. I've helped those who have had babies and surgeries. I brought valentines to the widows in our congregation so that they would know we love them and that they weren't forgotten. I have recently moved and have been assigned to help with the missionary work in the area. I am excited to be able to teach those prepared to hear the message of the gospel. I look for ways to lift and help and serve and teach, whether I'm assigned to do it or not. I truly enjoy relieving suffering and want all to know of the love of the Lord. He has helped and comforted me, so I look for any way I can serve Him.
