Hi I'm Kathleen

I love family, nature, and good music. I've lived in the USA, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California and have lived in Arizona, Utah, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. I love learning and teaching. I play the piano, organ, and love gardens and people. I especially love being with my husband and family in nature. There I feel at peace with them and the world.

Why I am a Mormon

As a little girl, my parents wanted me to know I was also a child of a loving Heaveny Father, and that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior. When I was 10 years old they invited me to read the Book of Mormon myself and ask God if it was a true book. I hadn't yet finished reading the book, but one night I was eager to know if it was what it claimed to be: another sacred witness of Jesus Christ. I knew that God loves all His children, and that although I was young, I, too, could learn truth for myself from Him. One night after my mother left my bedroom I read from the Book of Mormon, and when I finished reading I knelt in prayer to ask my Father in Heaven if the book was inspired by Him and given to the Prophet Joseph Smith to translate by the power and gift of God. A feeling of overwhelming love and assurance filled my heart; a warm feeling I had never yet experienced before, and it was undeniable. The feeling caused tears to fill my eyes and gratitude and excitement to fill my heart. "It's true!" I remember admitting out loud to myself that night. I knew it was true, and I rejoiced that I knew it! I've never forgotten this convincing feeling and reassuring love I received from God as a child that night. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Christ's priesthood authority and power are found. Christ's Gospel is taught in plainness. Spiritual gifts are available to everyone who chooses to believe Jesus Christ and His Latter-day prophets, be baptized, and keep the commandments of God. I love our just and merciful Savior, Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is true and is joyful evidence of His love, mercy, and atoning sacrifice made for all mankind. The Book of Mormon also evidences the reality of a Latter-day Restoration of Christ's church upon the earth. I invite you to read it and to also sincerely ask God to teach you of its truthfulness. Because He loves you, He will do that for you too!

How I live my faith

I choose to pray and study the scriptures daily. I also love to help other people. These habits strengthen me from the inside out, give me courage to make positive changes in my life, and invite me to rely on God for strength when trials come. As a family, we have chosen to work and play together on Saturdays, worship at church together on Sundays, and on Monday nights we gather family and friends to our home for a short gospel discussion, a fun activity, and a yummy treat. These traditions keep us connected to God and to each other.
