Hi I'm Kat

I'm a stay at home mom. I'm a chemist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I fell in love with chemistry in high school. When the opportunity arose to study in the field, I took it and moved away from home. In my third year of college, I met my husband. After marrying, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Germany. I left a part of my heart there! After the birth of our first son, my husband stayed home with him while I finished my bachelor's degree in Chemistry. We are now working through his last two years of Master's studies with our three children.

Why I am a Mormon

Because of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I have come to know my Savior as my rock, my redeemer, and my closest friend. In times of extreme suffering, as well as in times of everyday monotony, the knowledge of his presence and care, as well as the knowledge of my relationship to him as a spirit daughter of God, has helped my find peace and strength to face whatever is ahead. Through the Savior a balm has been applied to my soul many a time, which has helped me to heal from past and current sufferings. I know my Savior knows me on a personal level, just as he knows every person who will ever walk this earth. I know he loves us, and I can only begin to comprehend the nature of his sufferings and sacrifice, and the depth of his love for each of us. By the restored priesthood of Jesus Christ, I have seen miracles, great and small, just as he performed when he walked this earth in his mortal body. These miracles have rooted in me a testimony of his power and individual attention to all of his children. And when it happens that what I have plead for is not offered me, I see, by his hand, the blessing and miracle of my own growth. I lost my first child, and I suffered deeply and at great length because of the loss. But because of this restored church and the confirmation of the Holy Ghost, I can testify that I will hold my young one again, and see her grow up in peace. I know that the resurrection is a promise that will be kept, and I know that my family will be bound together for the eternities, through the holy priesthood and the sacrifice of the Son of God. It is this knowledge that has kept me rooted to his gospel. How could I ever turn from the peace he has offered me? How could I ever turn from the faith his has given me? I simply could not.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to serve the young women in my ward. It is my privilege to teach the young women and help them learn more about "who they are, where they are going, and what they are to achieve in this life." Although this is a daunting task, each young woman has an individual, wonderful personality, and I look forward to developing lasting friendships with them as I help them define their identity as daughters of God. It is truly a blessing to be able to work with such outstanding young women. I, along with another sister who is my companion, am also blessed with the responsibility of visiting with and caring for a few sisters in our ward. I am also the recipient of this watch-care, visiting teaching.
