Hi I'm Mallorie

I enjoy hiking, comedy, and most--not all--things German. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an Oregonian at heart! I wear Chacos and hike and play in rivers as much as I possibly can. But fun isn't all that life's about; I studied speech-language pathology in my undergraduate work at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and I plan to continue on to receive a Master's degree in the same field. I like to listen to other people talk, which makes speech therapy a great fit for me. I am an aunt of (almost) eight adorable nieces and nephews. Bacon is my favorite food. Anna Karenina is my favorite book. I watch a lot of Studio C clips and follow It Just Gets Stranger for my daily laughs. I dream of speaking German with President Dieter F. Uchtdorf someday. I like to keep a positive attitude in life.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon! I feel so much joy in following Jesus Christ and participating in His Church. My parents were both raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When they established their marriage and home, they decided to also raise their children as part of that faith. I am so glad my parents decided to do this! My faith gives me so much direction and joy and hope. Life would be bleak and dim without it. I no longer rely on my parents' beliefs to buoy me up, as I did when I was younger. I have prayed and found out for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is everything it claims to be and has everything it claims to have: a living prophet, true doctrine in the Bible as well as in The Book of Mormon, the power and authority to bind families together forever, and so many other great and marvelous things pertaining to the salvation of man. Joseph Smith, that young man who uttered a simple prayer so long ago, saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, and did Their will in bringing lost truths back to the earth. How beautiful and important that vision is! Jesus Christ is the Great Physician. God the Father is the Master Planner. I owe everything I am to God and Jesus Christ, and I know They love me and you.

How I live my faith

I trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and try to do what He would have me do. I pray for those I love, including my family and friends, the youth in my congregation and the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I revere the temple as the House of the Lord, a sacred place of learning, where I draw closer to God each week. I try my best to love those around me and support or help them in whatever they need. I am certainly not perfect in my efforts to be like Jesus Christ, but there is something powerful in learning through mistakes and turning to God for forgiveness.
