Hi I'm Desirae Fowlks

I grew up in Texas. I'm a coach. I'm a student at BYU-Idaho. I'm a daughter. I'm a sister. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old, a graduate of Roosevelt High School, a student at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I am an Elementary Education major and am also going to school formy Coaching and Bilingual Education minors. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas with both my parents along with my 2 brothers and sister. I am the second oldest in my family and I love being an older sister. I am an athlete but I also have developed a love for coaching and teaching others. I coach track and field mid-distance at BYU-Idaho and it's so much fun to help people do their best in the 400, 800, and mile relays. I love the outdoors and am always spending time outside running, biking, hiking, swimming, and cliff jumping. I have been a member of the church my whole life and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm a Mormon.I know it. I live it. I love it:)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have grown up in it my whole life but that isn't the reason why I am still a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints today. I was born under the covenant my parents made when they got married in the temple and I know that we are an eternal family. My Mom is a first generation convert to the church and my Dad comes from some of the first pioneers of the church so I have had a chance to appreciate both sides of the church my life. I know that as a member a lot of people think that we are restricted and have to follow so many rules but I found that the way we are encouraged to live our lives brings us closer to the Lord and ultimately brings us more happiness. I know that when I was not living my stanards as best as I could be something was missing in my life. I am always happiest when I have the spirit with me and when I am keeping my covenants and standards. I delight in my lord, his gospel, and the light that the church is in my life. I know this church is true with every fiber of my being. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I also know that the Bile is the word of God as long as it is translatedcorrectly. I know that President Monson is the prophet in these Latter-Days. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I love this church with all my heart and I know I wouldn't be who I am today without it. I'm a Mormon. I live it. I love it:)

How I live my faith

As an active member of a student singles ward, or a congregation for students, there is always something going on and everyone is always busy going 100 miles an hour. But that's what keeps your callings interesting. I have helped serve my ward as the Family Home Evening Cordinator so I along with my other cordinator helped put FHE families together. An FHE family is just a small group of us students that meet together on Monday nights for activities that help us have fun, bring us closer together, and help teach us how to make the best of our experiences here at school and grow closer to the Lord. I love being able to help and serve others and I am almost never in my own house. I am always out visiting friends and people in my ward just to see how they're doing or to lend a helping hand. Going out and serving others in my ward or community is how I share my faith because when you're in the service of your fellow man you are in the service of your God and opprotunities to talk about the church aren't forced but are brought up by others who have seen or been effected by my efforts or example. That is how I live my faith. Actions speak louder than words.
