Hi I'm Jess

A missionary in Bangkok Thailand. Foodie. Book worm. Tree Hugger. (No, I really hug trees). Older sis. Exercise phys major.

About Me

I just graduated from BYU-Idaho with a degree in exercise physiology. My first "real job" was working at a bakery. I am now a professional donut-froster... you don't think it needs skill until you try it. I am a 5' 11" giant... and yes I play sports. (I knew you were thinking it.) I love a little bit of everything - food, singing in the shower, cooking (but I tend to have some problems with following recipes), photography, my family, writing, broadway musicals, running, movies, music and books... to name just a few. I am serving a mission in Bangkok, Thailand! I just barely left home on August 14, 2013. Every day is a whirlwind. I love serving my Father in Heaven. I love teaching people about the gospel and helping them to make covenants with him that will help them to improve their lives. I am also always trying learning to speak Thai. (You would think I would be fluent by now...) I believe in the Lord's timing. In everything. In life, we have hard things thrown at us at times, but believing in God helps us to know the "why" behind everything. I didn't ever plan on serving a mission, but I have been grateful every single day of my life since I made that decision. More blessings than we can ever imagine come from making covenants with and serving our Father in Heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

It isn't just because my ancestors were among the pioneers that came with the first Mormons across the plains. It isn't just because my parents are. I am a Mormon because I KNOW it is true. I have sought. I have prayed. And I know and believe that there is no other way I could be completely happy in this life without it.

How I live my faith

Being a missionary is pretty great. I get to talk about the awesome blessings that I have in my life - that all come from being a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And I get to invite other people to learn about it! All day. Every day. For the 18 months. I am learning that serving my Heavenly Father is the best job, for the best employer, with the best benefits. Sometimes being a missionary is rough. Me. Not a morning person. Gettin up at 6:30 every morning. Talking to everyone. (Also not something a bookworm like me always liked to do.) But I love it. Because I see the blessings that are poured out of heaven. And I never want that to stop. I love feeling the spirit. I love learning about my Heavenly Father. And I am going to work as hard as I possibly can for the rest of my life to make him proud of me.
