Hi I'm Rebecca

I am a college student studying to be a Physician Assistant. I grew up in Washington state. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student from Washington. I grew up in the Great Northwest, so naturally, I love the rain! I grew up in a very "hick" kind of town, so I love being outdoors and getting my hands dirty sometimes. I have been studying health science for 3 years and am planning to attend PA school soon. I have always loved the medical field and love being active in helping diagnose a disease. I am a tennis player and have been for 7 years now, but Right now I am a missionary serving in the Utah Provo Mission 2013-2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I was brought up in the church, my parents never once encouraged me to follow their beliefs. They were always there to teach me, but they wanted me to choose for myself. One of the most significant moments in my life converted me to the gospel, & ultimately, to the church. I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover, with a sincere heart and desire to know of its truth, it it be true. I hadn't even gotten to the end yet, when I read about Jesus Christ & His visit to the Americas. I felt like reading in a quiet place, so I hiked a ways down the mountain where I had been camping, sat on a rock & read Alma chapter 17 out loud. For some reason, I could not fight back tears. It is hard to explain the feeling I had. I felt warmth, strength even. Finally, I felt like I wanted to kneel & pray right then & ask if what I had learned was true. I asked God if He was there. If He loved me. I felt strong I already knew the answer. Then I asked if the Book of Mormon was true, if it was truly restored through a prophet, & if the things I grew up learning were all true. I waited. The quiet, calming peace overwhelmed me as I heard a voice in my head, say "Of course it is. You know it to be true already." The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's church on the Earth today. I know it's true. I know. No matter what happens in life I will always defend my faith, & share the beautiful light the gospel brings to everyone I know. Alma 29:1-2

How I live my faith

I think it is really important to share your talents with the community you live in. Everyone has specific skill sets and we can all benefit from them. That is why I have been a teacher for 3 years. Before college, I taught a class of 3-4 year old's. I have been teaching Gospel Doctrine in college for 3 semesters and I love it! Every month I spend time visiting with some girls in my ward within the church to see if they need anything and see what I can teach them. The most recent experience was last fall. I taught English in China. I just absolutely love to teach! I believe that if you have something of worth, then share it. The gospel of Jesus Christ is something that has made me tremendously happy most of the time, and has given me something and someone to lean on when hard times come. I know that is something that can be of use to others, and it is something I intend to share with anyone who will hear it. If you have something of worth, share it.
