Hi I'm Shelby Clark

I'm a convert from Utah. I'm an Art educator. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I had very little religion in my life and very little understanding of the LDS church despite the many members around me. My dad had grown up in the church but had become inactive and my mom had been baptized when she was young but stopped going. The summer I turned fourteen was when my family made the decision to try going to church. My dad had made some major life changes and we all wanted to be supportive of his efforts. We began going to church in a very strong and welcoming ward and I loved it. :) It was the happiest I had ever been and my family was thriving. My sister and I had the missionary discussions and were baptized that December. The next summer, in June, my family was sealed in the Salt Lake temple. My life has been different ever since. I attend Brigham Young University as an Art education major. I am very passionate about art, but even more passionate about teaching. I think that art has the power to broaden perspectives and explore topics that are generally tough and intimidating. I want my students to pursue their interests and drive their own learning. I think that art can allow them to do that. I was recently sealed to my husband in the Salt Lake Temple. It was the best experience and I am so grateful for the new family we've started and I am very excited for our future. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe in the Savior. I believe in His gospel and this lifestyle that he wants us to live. I believe in eternal families. I think that's one of the things that I'm most grateful for, is the opportunity to be with my family forever. My family was uplifted and strengthened immensely when we joined this church and I know that we were able to do that with help from the Savior. I could never deny that testimony because I have been on both sides and I know that my life and my family's lives are better because of this gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by pushing myself to be better. I've had many callings and though I felt inadequate at first, I am always so grateful that my Heavenly Father gives me opportunities to grow and serve. I think that the most important ways to live the gospel are through service and example to others. I have been blessed with great examples and I strive to be an example as well, through serving others, having a positive attitude and acknowledging the blessings I have been given.
