Hi I'm Allison Baker

I am: a future missionary, communication major, life student, adventurist, and spicy food lover. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The biggest thing about me is the fact that I'll try just about anything once, and I love that about myself. It's opened up my life to a lot of new possibilities that otherwise I would've been too timid to try: snowboarding, long boarding, bungee jumping, zip lining, all kinds of new music, slack lining and spicy food! My biggest dream is mostly to get a great job that allows me to TRAVEL and meet new people, and broaden my expanse of this beautiful world that was created for us. When I was a junior in high school, my mom and I got in a terrible wreck that left her in a coma for a couple of months- during that time it was really hard to accept the fact that I might not get her back, and was a definite period of growth for me where I learned more to trust in the Lord's timing, and strengthened my resolve to make this lifetime count for something.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the faith, but it's been my choice to stay in it. There's a point when you're younger that it's all you know, but when you get older and leave home, there's so many distractions and it's easy to get sidetracked. I've gotten sidetracked before, but I always come back because living the Mormon lifestyle is the only lifestyle where I feel whole, like I have it all. I'm happier, in complete control of my life, and I know my purpose.

How I live my faith

I am currently preparing to go on a mission- I've just received my call to the Alpine German speaking mission! I'd been taking Spanish classes, so I was quite surprised to hear that I was going to be preaching the gospel in Europe in the German language. I'm currently a teacher in my ward and teach principles of the gospel to class members through scriptures stories and the power of discussion. I have good and bad days just like everyone else, but I've been trying to focus on "being happy in my circumstances" and realizing that the Lord knows of my disappointments and heartache and in spite of those, there is so much to be happy and grateful for.
