Hi I'm Chase Acheson

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am serving a mission in Albania from July '13 to '15

About Me

I study political science at Brigham Young University. I served a mission in the Adriatic South Mission (Albania and Kosovo). I have lived in Utah primarily with the exception of Washington DC while working for the United States Senate in 2010. I have two wonderful siblings. My younger brother is serving a mission in Lyon, France and my younger sister has just been accepted to study at BYU. My parents both served French speaking missions: my father in Quebec, Canada and my mother in Brussels, Belgium. They met in 1985 while teaching English in Taipei, Taiwan and were married in 1991. I was involved in music, sports, debate, and student government throughout my middle and high school years; in addition, I studied 3 years of French. I enjoy studying history, current events, and music; I was apart of BYU Men's Chorus for a semester before I left on my mission. I enjoy many things but I love literature above most things.

Why I am a Mormon

I have choosen to follow the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ because I have received a personal witness of the truth of the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon contains the most clear and powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and his Atonement given to mankind. I testify of the cleansing power of the Atonement and the part it has played in my life here on Earth and my life afterwards. I testify of the truth of the Plan of Salvation or that Great Plan of Happiness. I know that I will live forever with my Mother, my Father, my Brother who passed away, my Brother who still lives, and my Sister that mangages to survive despite the torment we give her. The Atonement and Plan of Salvation have provided a means by which I may live with my future wife and children forever. There is no greater happiness. There is no greater honor. My Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, is my rock, my stay; in Him my soul delights and finds rest. I love him. I love my Father in Heaven. I love my family. I love myself. Through the teachings of His Gospel, I am happy. I am safe. I can grow without limit. I can do that which my Savior has provided I do. That is why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I am trying my best to live my faith on day to day basis. I feel that my conversion is best manifest in how I interact with people. More than anything, I believe that Christ is love. Christ is the exemplar of love. My desire that one day, I will be able to genuinely show love in all my interactions. It is one thing that I think I can work on personally. It is easy to look at people and identify the small character blemishes which obscure the true person behind the facade. I know that I will be able to feel more fully converted when I will be able to see and love people as God sees and loves them.
