Hi I'm Gayle

I grew up in a Mormon home mostly in California. I'm a retired nurse and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest child in a large family. I mostly grew up in California but my family returned to Utah when I was a senior in high school. I attended the university and have a bachelor of science in nursing. I have enjoyed working as a nurse in pediatrics. I am now retired. I had an unsuccessful marriage and spent most of my adult life as a single parent of two children. When they were adults I married a wonderful man and we have a happy life together. I enjoy all kinds of good music and play the piano and organ. I like to sing in choral groups. I enjoy cooking and doing various kinds of embroidery. I was the camp director for the asthma camp of the American Lung Association of Utah and served on their board of directors.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. My parents always took me to church with them. I loved the children and youth programs and have always been active. There were many times I could not go to church because I was a nurse working in the hospital but I always wanted to go. Eventually I was able to get a nursing job that did not require me to work on Sunday. I always took my children with me to church. I continue to attend because it gives me a warm and peaceful feeling. Now I attend with my husband and the church helps us to be better people and to be better partners for each other as we serve together in various assignments. It is a commandment that we meet together and partake of the Sacrament. I need the spiritual recharge that I get by attending the meetings and mingling with other members of the church each week. I am a better person because of my membership in the church and because I try to follow the Savior and His teachings. I feel better when I actively participate in the various church programs. I am a Mormon because I know that this church is Christ's church restored to the earth in our time. I know that we have a prophet today and that if we follow Christ and His prophet on earth that we we will eventually be able to return to Him and to His Father to live with them and our families forever.

How I live my faith

I think I have always had faith. I know that each one must develop our own faith and not just rely on our parent's faith. I realized as a 13 year old that I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ was true. I attended another church with a relative and I did not feel anything spiritual. I have had many spiritual experiences since then. I have had many opportunities to serve in the church. I have always tried to help other people. I have often been a teacher in the church, most recently in the adult Sunday School class. In the past I was very involved in scouting serving as a den leader in Cub Scouts and as a merit badge counselor and on scout troop committees. I like to tell my friends and others about the church and have served three missions with my husband. We are preparing to serve another mission together.
