Hi I'm Marissa

I grew up in Oregon and soon plan to study linguistics at BYU and hope I can help those in need someday. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town without a lot of members of the church to support me. In High School I played soccer and tennis for my school, as well as participated in many school clubs including National Honors Society, SODA (Students Opposed to Drugs and Alcohol) Club, Leadership, and Honors and AP courses. I was also part of our schools choir program. Music means a great deal to me. After graduating I attended BYU-I to study Architecture Technology. I loved the school and the time I spent there, but now plan to attend BYU to study Linguistics after serving a full-time mission. I have been called to serve in Campinas, Brazil for a period of 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about its truthfulness and power, and have received an answer for myself, from Heavenly Father, that it is true. I see the blessings of the gospel in my life every minute of every day, and cannot imagine a world without it. The Lord is my shepherd, and I know he guides me through the hard trials placed before me. I know that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me very much, and longs for my happiness. I have felt the power of the Holy Ghost in my life, and I know that the Holy Ghost is a representative of our redeemer.

How I live my faith

In the Singles ward where I live, I have the pleasure of being a ward missionary. Each week we have a ton of activities to invite others to attend and have fun. Every thursday as ward missionaries we meet together and visit inactive members of our ward, to see if there is anything we can do for them, inquire about their absence from church, remind them how much they are missed, and invite them to return or to meet with the full-time missionaries to learn more about the gospel and grow closer to Christ once more.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

One of the most important things that proves there is a God to me is the Earth. I marvel at the beauty of the Earth, and truly believe that there is no other explanation for such a majestic thing to exist except it be a creation of something more powerful than we can comprehend. I can bear testimony that there is a God, and he loves each and every one of us very much. This gospel is another way to prove God exists and loves us. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

As missionaries they are representatives of Jesus Christ and simply invite you to come unto Christ, to learn of His gospel, and to feel His spirit. Show more Show less
