Hi I'm Nan

I have 8 fantastic children and 9 grandchildren and I've been a stay-at-home mom since my first baby. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy my family most, so I cook alot and we gather for dinners often. I like yoga, step, hiking, but I force myself to do some weight training, too. My husband and I are discovering the trails in the nearby mountains. We hike a lot. I agreed to compile a cookbook of my grandmother's recipes, but also included memorries of cousins and old family photos. I scanned plus typed every recipe so users could know her better and see how working in the kitchen has changed in two generations. When we can find travel deals, we visit our children who are scattered all over the country. We still have two children at home .My husband's career took us to Pittsburgh, PA and Ponca City, OK. I just feel I am an ordinary person who keeps busy serving those whom I love. I have found great satisfaction and fulfillment in family, church, friends, and service.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church and was taught religion by my parents, but my real conversion has come over time and through many experiences. I enjoy the outdoors, and I believe all of nature testifies of a divine creator. I have always had a basic belief in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel as if there is a light inside of me that testifies of truth. I have had many prayers answered and one time, when I was deeply troubled, I felt comfort and peace that took away my pain. I have found great strength and felt a strong spirit while reading the Book of Mormon. I know it's teachings are true and that it helps me to grow closer to my Savior. I believe Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. He is a great example of love, service and commitment. I believe that God called Joseph Smith as a prophet to bring his true Church back to the earth. I am very grateful to him. He made many sacrifices to fulfill his mission including giving up his own life. I believe that Christ broke the bands of death and we will all be resurrected just as he was. I also believe that we have to earn exaltation by showing love and mercy as Christ did, and also by receiving the necessary ordinances here on earth--such as baptism. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the only true Church upon the face of the whole earth.

How I live my faith

I am serving as the Relief Society President. I live in a remarkable area and I love the women I serve. I have spent many years serving in the nursery, cub scouts, the Primary for children and the Young Women. In each job I have grown closer to my Father in Heaven and I have felt his divine hand in my life. I love my Savior and am grateful for the peace and mercy he has extended to me. I have experienced his healing power both physically and spiritually.
