Hi I'm Ali

I am a BYU student. I love to sing. I love to smile and laugh. I love to learn. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up mostly in Mesa, Arizona and I love the constant sunshine and warmth. I love playing basketball, love to swim, and I love to read. My family members are seriously some of my best friends and I feel blessed to be a part of it. I sing all the time whether its in the shower, in the kitchen (to the annoyance of my brother), in my car, or up on a stage. I just finished my first year at BYU and though I had a hard time with the snow I loved being there and learning so many new things! I am hoping to major in Athletic Training, something I was a part of at my High School, because I love being able to get people back into the game after a major injury. I am afraid of heights and i am somewhat of a perfectionist but I still manage to get by and so far I am just loving my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and so I started out relying on my parents testimonies in the church to keep me going. In my high school years however I learned to find my own strength and have, through prayer and personal study, gained a personal testimony of the truth of this church. Day and night, I pray to my Heavenly Father and I am comforted in the fact that He is there listening and wants to hear from me. No one else knows me like He does and I can promise you that if you reach out to Him, he will comfort and guide you just as He has for me. I am a Mormon because I know that without this church I would be lost and I would not feel the happiness and peace that I feel today because of it. Jesus Christ's Atonement gave us the gift of repentance and a way to return back to our Heavenly Father. I know that when I use that gift and truly repent of my sins that the Lord will forget them and forgive me. There is no greater feeling than that of being clean and truly happy because of it. I know that the Lord lives and love me and I know this is His church, so I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me, striving to be a witness and example of Christ at all times by living the standards that have been set, and magnifying my callings. Obviously I am not perfect at this but I have comfort knowing that repentance is possible and that the Lord asks us to do our best, not to be perfect. I had the opportunity last year to be the president of my young women's class at church and this year I was able to be a supervisor for visiting teaching. In both callings I learned to really love the people I was serving and was able to learn how to organize and plan events and encourage the girls to follow the teachings of this Gospel. Currently I work in the nursery for my home ward as I am home for the summer and it is amazing to see that the light of Christ is there in His little ones even if they aren't perfect angels all the time. I am also preparing to serve a mission in Guayaquil Ecuador and could not be more excited! I get such joy and happiness from this gospel that I look forward to being able to share that with others.
