Hi I'm Melissa Gren

I love theatre, music, writing, and photography. I love my family. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely adore music! I can't live without it. I sing, play flute and piccolo, and want to learn to play piano. I have also performed in many theatrical productions. My favorite part to play has been Yente from Fiddler on the Roof. I don't know if I could live without being able to sing. I graduated from Eastern Washington University with two Bachelor's Degrees in English-Creative Writing and Theatre in June 2012. I am also a writer. I am currently working on many stories and books, but one in particular I am trying to get published. Writing is another way for me to express myself and my creativity. And I do photography. Not professionally or anything, but just for fun. I love being able to capture moments in life that show the beauty of this world Heavenly Father has given us. I am currently getting ready to serve my mission. After my mission, I hope to return to Eastern Washington University to study Vocal Performance.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know He lives. I was born into the church, but I had to go through my own conversion. There was a time I doubted if what I was being taught was true. Through reading the Book of Mormon and following the promise written in Moroni, I discovered that this is the true church. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and wants the best for me. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who restored Christ's church to the earth. I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and that the Bible is true. I am a Mormon because this gospel makes me happy. When I was doubting and wasn't doing what I knew to be true, I was so unhappy and depressed. But when I starting living the gospel, I felt a peace I had never known before. This is the true gospel.

How I live my faith

I make sure I never bend my standards for anything or anyone. For example, in the past, I have been in theatre shows that have asked me to say inappropriate words or phrases or wear clothing that is not modest. I talked to the directors of each show and they have worked around my standards and allowed me to change the words that are not okay for me to say and made sure the costumer for the show made me a costume that fit with my dress standards. And when they didn't, I refused to be part of the show. It can be hard to stand up for what you believe in, but it is worth it. I also live my faith by loving everyone I meet. I try not to judge others by what they look like and try to get to know them as a person first. I pray to my Heavenly Father and try to follow Jesus Christ's example. Every performance I do, whether it be a theatre show or singing for church, I always pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him for help and strength. After each performance, I thank Him for His help. I never take credit for my musical talents. I always give Heavenly Father His due credit. After all, He is the one who gave it to me. It's a gift He gave me to share with His children and He expects me to share it.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Melissa Gren
The Bible and The Book of Mormon contain the fullness of the gospel. This means that without the Bible, the Book of Mormon is incomplete. And without the Book of Mormon, the Bible is incomplete. For example, if we didn't have the Bible, we wouldn't have an account of Jesus Christ and His teachings. We also wouldn't have many of the words of the prophets that are in the Old Testament. Without the Book of Mormon, we wouldn't get to see that Heavenly Father loves all of His children. We wouldn't know that God speaks to all people, regardless of where they are physically. And that He teaches the same gospel to everyone (faith, repentance, and baptism). I love the Bible just as much as the Book of Mormon. I have read the Old and New Testaments and I have seen just how much the Lord loves each of us. I have found how patient He is with us even though we constantly disregard His teachings and prophets. And I know it is true. Show more Show less
