Hi I'm Dannika

I am K-9 Search and Rescue volunteer, I am the second oldest in a family of nine, I am a Mormon

About Me

I just finished my first year away from home attending college. Because of my love for the outdoors I am planning on graduating in Wildlife Science. I spend most of my free time hiking with my dogs, reading books (especially fantasy), and horseback riding. A few things on my bucket list for the future is to swim with dolphins, have a blue Great Dane named "ghost", and travel to Scotland. My biggest fear is being lost alone in the mountains which led me to joining a search and rescue group. This helped me to overcome my fear by being prepared and knowledgeable about what to do if I am ever lost but it also allows me the chance to help others who find themselves in this predicament. My family is really important to me and I take the responsibility of being a big sister very seriously. I enjoy sharing their lives and all of us learning and growing together. My family enjoys adventure we like hiking, camping, and participate in triathlons and 100 mile bike races. Having a close family makes me feel safe, supported and gives me a stable platform to build by own dreams on.

Why I am a Mormon

Hope and happiness, that is why I am a Mormon. Life can be difficult, disappointing and often unfair. But, I feel the message of the Gospel of Jesus is all about hope and happiness. Happiness that is lasting and deep the kind of true joy that worldly things can never provide. It comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I know from fervent prayer and searching that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ, that he lives, and that He is My savior, as well as my best friend.

How I live my faith

Coming from a big family I learned early on the importance of looking outward instead of focusing on myself. I learned the joy that comes from helping others learn, grow and achieve their goals and dreams. I have found a peace and satisfaction in serving others that I can't find any other way. Because of this love for others and the desire to serve them I decided to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to help others find the happiness and hope that I feel. I am comforted in knowing there is a plan for my life and that life will not end when I die but that I will continue living as will my loved ones. Because of this I am inspired to work harder each day to build lasting relationships that have depth and meaning. One of those who I want to have this kind of relationship with is my Savior, Jesus Christ. Just like with any other friendship I know I need to understand the kind of person He is, I need to talk with Him often and I need to be open to his thoughts and feelings. The best way for me to do that is to study His life, His words, His character through scriptures and reading what He has said to me through His prophets. Reading the scriptures and talks by the leaders of this church I am strengthen and encouraged to be a little better version of myself each day. I need to contact Him often through prayer and quiet pondering to be able to listen for His thoughts and feelings He wants to share.
