Hi I'm Madalyn

I've moved 22 times. I love chocolate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19 years old and recently graduated from high school. I have moved twenty-two times. I went to five elementary schools, four middle schools, and four high schools. I've played the flute for 6 years. I've been in bands, wind ensembles, and symphonies. I love music! I'm the 6th of 10 kids. My parents got divorced when I was eight. I have a step mom, three stepsisters, two brothers, and four sisters. I love ice cream, dark chocolate, the ocean, and socks.

Why I am a Mormon

Through the course of my life, I found out for myself that the Gospel is absolutely true. When I was 18 years old, some trials resulted in me having to leave my home. I was in the middle of my senior year in Idaho. I was lost and didn't know what to do. I prayed and had the impression to stay at my sister's apartment to finish the semester. I had never driven on the freeway by myself, and she lived an hour away. I prayed for strength and made it safely. It was finals week, so I couldn't miss a day of school. Every day for two weeks I drove an hour to and from school in the snow. In these two weeks I came to know that Heavenly Father knows us individually and perfectly. He loves us more than any of us will ever know. I didn't have a job, and couldn't afford the gas. I prayed, and that's when my best friend in Utah offered to let me live with her. It felt right. The night before leaving, I noticed smoke coming from the engine of my car. I looked, and realized I was completely out of oil. That was a huge tender mercy, because if I hadn't noticed the smoke that night, my car would have died on my way to Utah. I checked myself out of school and started the road trip. That day there was a huge blizzard. What was supposed to be a 3 hour trip turned into a 6 hour trip. I prayed, and was comforted the whole way there. I lived with my friend for about a year. I was blessed with a great job, good friends, and a church that has helped me in all aspects of life. I'm grateful for the knowledge that I have a loving Heavenly Father who listens to me when I pray. He answers those prayers. He knows our fears and dreams. He sent his son, Jesus Christ, to the earth to atone for our sins. Jesus Christ understands exactly what we're going through. This Gospel brings me so much peace and happiness, especially when I go through trials. I know that no matter what we're going through, we have a Heavenly Father who is there the whole time, loves us, and understands.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am going to the Finland, Helsinki mission, speaking Finnish. I get to share this happiness with people across the world, and I'll forever be grateful for this opportunity.
