Hi I'm Connie

I'm a mom, a college student and I love to run. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an active mom of four kids that decided it was time to go back to school. I'm in college right now and loving every minute of my education. I love running and especially hiking. I love playing kick-the-can and frisbee with my kids. My husband and I enjoy traveling with each other and taking our kids on vacations. We love to see this beautiful world and explore amazing places.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the gospel, but was always taught that I needed to find out if the gospel was true for myself. It always felt right and good to me, so as I prayed and studied to know if it was true, the answer was sweet and peaceful. I knew it was true, but was given a wonderful assurance of it's truthfulness. Even today I pray for that reassurance and often receive a peaceful feeling knowing that I am doing as I should. Trials, challenges, heartaches and troubles will undeniably come. It is just part of our existence here on earth. But I can testify that through the knowledge of the Savior Jesus Christ, His Atonement, His Gospel and the guidance of living prophets on the earth, I can overcome all things. There is tremendous peace in knowing that my Savior is there for me, that He understands me perfectly. I can hear the news of the world, watch the struggles of those I love, face my own challenges, and I can easily become discouraged and feel hopeless. But I find that despite all the wickedness and sadness in the world, despite the challenges I face, I still feel peace. Why? Because I know who is in charge. God is watching over all, but He will not stand in the way of the agency of man. All things will be dealt with justly. I know that our life here on earth is but a small moment.

How I live my faith

Currently I am involved with the youth organization, particularly the young women of the church. Each Sunday I take turns with my adviser in teaching the 16-17 year old girls. Every week we organize and hold, with the help of the youth, an activity. This activity can be anything from serving our community, learning a new skill, going swimming or going to the recreation center. I serve with 6 other amazing women, who devote much of their time to serving these girls. We also provide a yearly girl's camp and sports, like basketball, futsal and volleyball. I am a visiting teacher, which is the opportunity to visit a few ladies in our ward boundaries at least once a month. As a visiting teacher, I am kind of like a link to other leaders in our ward if they need help with anything. I also share a message with them and just become good friends! I enjoy studying the gospel of Jesus Christ frequently, and have found that things just go better when I study my scriptures daily.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

By being a member of the church, it gives us an opportunity to serve others in our own congregation and surrounding congregations. But the Gospel is not just about members of the Church. It's about all of God's children! As an organized religion, we have greater opportunities to reach out all over the world to serve, which brings us immense blessings as we bless the lives of others! The youth group that I serve with have an opportunity in the near future to help serve meals at a interdenominational meal that serves any in need throughout our community. We've also spent many hours putting together hygiene kits and infant kits for those all over the world. Show more Show less
