Hi I'm Drake Stockton Withers

I enjoy creating and experiencing literature, music, and photography; riding my bike; and minimalism. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I try to live principles of simplicity and minimalism: I find that minimizing bulk and excess in mortal life frees up my horizon to allow me to have a more eternal line of sight. I love finding ways to consolidate or reduce areas of bulk in my life that I take for granted. I use my bicycle for transportation whenever I can, and along the same lines I prefer minimizing dependence on things like gasoline and electricity. I enjoy creative expression, including literature, photography and music: these media allow me to understand and express ideas that normal communication cannot.

Why I am a Mormon

I have received a witness from the Spirit of God that the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of Christ's Gospel, restored again onto the Earth by Joseph Smith. The influence of the Holy Ghost is undeniable: I know that the Mormon church is true, that it is led by modern-day prophets with authority from God, and that Jesus Christ is indeed at the church's head. I can feel this Spiritual confirmation whenever I read the Book of Mormon, attend church services, visit any of the Mormon Temples, or pray to God. I am thankful for the restored Gospel, and I am anxious to help share it with more of God's children, my spiritual brothers and sisters.

How I live my faith

I am the Bishop's primary assistant in leading the Wadsworth LDS church's 16-18 year-old boys. I visit two families from the Wadsworth ward to fulfill my calling as a home-teacher. I depart on September 4th to serve a full-time mission for two years in El Salvador, where I will be blessed with the opportunity to help people come unto Christ.
