Hi I'm Emily Sullivan

I'm from Iowa. I feel alive outside. I LOVE being a missionary in the Oregon Salem Mission, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

Most of my life I have grown up in a small town. I have an amazing family who I love dearly. Before my mission I enjoyed working outside and going to school. I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I always felt very comfortable and good about the things that were taught in my home and at church. However, at a young age I decided that I needed to know that this was true for myself. What I wanted was my own personal experience and not live off something that someone else said. I decided to pray to know if this Church was true. The most amazing thing happened to me after that prayer, I had the most peaceful feeling come over me and in that moment I knew that it was true. God truly does answers the prayers of an honest seeker of truth. This knowledge has brought me so much immeasurable joy. My life has not been easy or perfect, but if one thing is for sure I know is that God and Jesus Christ are real and that through them all things are possible. With this knowledge I have been able to go through the easy as well as the hard times knowing that I do have a Heavenly Father and a Savior that know me and care about me on a very personal and perfect level. Right now as I am serving a mission I have come to an even more sure knowledge that these things are true. I am so happy that I have the opportunity to share this knowledge with others, because I know that it will bless their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is true. Through the answers I have received to prayer and the experiences they have confirmed my faith to more than just a belief but to a knowledge. I have come to know for myself that as I have stayed true to what I know is right and honorable even when it is difficult that everything works out. There is a peace that comes from living the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is why I am a Mormon. Even though I am not a perfect member, I know that my family, the church, and my Heavenly Father have never left me and have been there for me when I needed it most. I continue to follow the gospel because I know the happiness that it can bring to me, my family, and to others.

How I live my faith

Who we are and what is important to us is what defines us. One of the things that defines me is my beliefs. I live my faith by being an example and by encouraging others to do what is right. I have learned that when we try to follow Jesus Christ's example that we are blessed, and that live may not be easy but with the power that comes from following the Savior we can have the strength and energy to keep pressing forward.
