Hi I'm Erin!

I love school and play soccer and lacrosse. You can always find me with a smile on my face. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am in my sophomore year at Brigham Young University and am working on a Chemistry BS degree and would love to use it someday to become a "mad scientist." Outside of school I read a lot and watch some of my favorite TV shows like "Once Upon a Time" and "Castle." I love to be physically active and people love to call me "speedy" because in sports I could outrun almost anyone on the field. I took piano lessons for 6 years and hated spending the time practicing, but now I've realized how much it has blessed me. I love my family and am the peacemaker among my siblings. I live at home during the summer with my parents and two younger siblings. For a summer job I am worked for a photography company that takes the high school senior portraits that will go in the yearbook.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all my life, but that does not mean I am brainwashed into believing everything just because I was told it was true or correct. In fact, I started to question the truth of the gospel when I was 14 so I decided to read the "Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ" and pray to know if the church was true. I got my answer as a feeling of peace and a voice that said that I already knew it was true. Since then I've doubted many different things at different times in my life, but I can always return to the scriptures and kneeling in prayer to get my answer directly from Heavenly Father. Personal revelation is possible in this church and has been witnessed to me time and time again. Through these small and simple revelations, I know the church is true. We have a prophet here on the earth today who can receive revelation for the whole church. I know Jesus Christ lived and that he was resurrected and lives again. He atoned for our sins so that we may repent and be able to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father once we leave this life. I know that Joseph Smith was able to translate ancient records through the Holy Ghost to give us the most correct book on the earth today; the Book of Mormon. Everything good in my life points to Christ in one way or another. It is for this reason that I dedicate myself to following the commandments so that I may return to live with Him.

How I live my faith

I love going to church every Sunday and feel the spirit often as long as I am doing what's right and paying attention so I can hear its still, small voice. I had a job in my congregation of teaching people how to do family history work and prepare the names of their ancestors to be taken to the temple so that saving ordinances can be performed on their behalf. The temple is an amazing place to spend my time because there is an undeniable peace in the building and is a quiet place where I can meditate and draw closer to the Lord. Outside of the "churchy" activities I love meeting up with the young single adults (people between the ages of 18 and 30 who are single) to play games and do fun activities. We really bond and have a great time as we have fun and sometimes give service back to our community.
