Hi I'm Gaylene

I am an American who has lived all over the West. I am a full time mother, a school teacher, and an enthusiastic reader!

About Me

I love to learn and read and dance and play. I had four children in five years. I have been a stay at home mom and at other times I have been a working mom. I have been a PTSO President and I have been the supporter who cheers on the leaders. I am currently working as a school teacher. My love for my children motivates almost every decision that I make. I want them to be happy in this life and to find a peace that allows them to be a positive force in this world. As I watch them navigate through their teenage years and early adulthood, I have great hope for their future because of my faith in Jesus Christ. Life in our home has not always been easy. Divorce has sadly touched our family and my children have had to deal with being "shared" by two parents who love them deeply, but do not share the same home or faith. But, we have learned to share the best things in life and have created a close knit family with the help of my big, diverse, extended family and the strength of good friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because its teachings fill my life with peace and joy. The church provides my family with truths that do not change and which chart a clear path to happiness for us. I love all that the Mormon church offers by helping its people build strong families and teach our children how to go forward with faith in a world with ever changing values. It is my faith in Jesus Christ and my knowledge of the love of my Heavenly Father that get me through the disappointments and sadness that have been mine. Although I was born and raised in the Mormon faith, my decision to stay a Mormon is one I made on my own through prayer after searching and studying the scriptures. The Mormon church teaches that we are children of a Heavenly Father who is God and that God wants us to know Him. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to show us how we can find peace in this world. As I became older I wondered if these teachings were really true or just the wishful thinking that some of my friends and associates told me they were. I had spent much time reading The Book of Mormon and The Bible growing up. So, I prayed asking, "Is this all really true?" A strong and loving feeling entered my soul as I contemplated my prayer. I felt in my mind and heart the love of a Heavenly Source and I knew it was true! I know that I am the daughter of a Heavenly Father and that His Son Jesus Christ came to Earth and suffered for my sins and that I really matter to Them. I know that this correct understanding of the Godhead is only found in this church. Through the atonement of Jesus Christ I can seek forgiveness and continually strive to learn and become better. I know that I can live forever with my family. I have gained this knowledge by studying The Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible. I am a Mormon and I love it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving and helping others. I have volunteered my time to help at my children's schools and have spent many years working on the Boards of Parent-Teacher Organizations. I have also worked with our church's youth organization to teach young women ages 12-18 about our Savior Jesus Christ. We have worked together cleaning up our community, sewing quilts for people who need them, and taking care of each other's needs. I donate my time by preparing lessons, hand outs and activities that help us feel our Savior's love for us. I believe that helping these girls understand how much they are loved by their Heavenly Father will give them the confidence they need to be strong women.
