Hi I'm Emily

I'm a true southern belle, a beach lover and a massage therapist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a southern girl, with a fondness for roads lined with pine trees and scoops of Blue Bell ice cream. I'm the big sister to 3 siblings, all of which were born with a rare genetic disease. I graduated college with a diploma in Therapeutic Massage, which allows me to learn more about myself and how to help other people in my community. Other interesting tidbits are that I played the violin for 8 years, love to write handwritten letters and joke around with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been extremely blessed to have been raised in the church. But I've been guilty of taking such a precious gift for granted. As I've grown in age and in the Gospel I've seen the love and atonement of Christ work miracles not only in my life, but in the lives of people I love dearly. My youngest brother died of a feeding pump malfunction at the age of 5, bringing great sadness into our lives. I was 14 at his death and remember the members of our ward flooding our home, wrapping us in their arms and sharing as much of our burden as they could. This experience could have torn my family apart, made me bitter and angry at God for allowing my brother to be taken away from us so unexpectedly, but I know differently. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know I have a loving Father in Heaven who has provided a beautiful plan of happiness which will allow me the incredible opportunity to live in His presence again if I prove myself worthy in this life. I know that for this plan to be complete our Savior Jesus Christ took upon Himself the sins, pains, mistakes and agonies of the world in that quiet grove of olive trees in Gethsemene, so that I have the chance to repent when I make a mistake. I want to be perfect, as my Heavenly Father and Savior are and I know that if I continue to listen and obey the prophet and the apostles, read my scriptures and pray with earnest intent that can return to live with them again.

How I live my faith

I am a part of a YSA ward (Young Single Adult) for ages 18-30. Being a part of of this ward has brought me a new round of appreciation and love for the Gospel and Christ's teachings as I face a world full of sin and harm everyday. I love the opportunities I have to meet with new friends who hold my same standards and eternal goals in life, so many days they offer me the strength and love I need when a combination of school, work and family circumstances become just to hard to bear. I've grown to see the outpouring of love that we can show to all those around us when we center our lives on Christ. I've had an amazing opportunity to serve and love the sisters in my ward as a member of the Compassionate Service Committee. It's taught me that service is more than just raking someone's yard or taking over a meal. It's showing one person that they are important, loved and cared for. Just as they by their Father in Heaven.
