Hi I'm Tyler

I was born and raised in Southern California. I love the beach, especially the water and anything outdoors. I'm a mormon

About Me

I grew up in a large family of 12 kids. Family has always been really important to me. I look forward to getting together and developing relationships with the ones I love. It is coming up on 4 yrs since I was married and I have a child of my own, Rhys. With a 17 month old it's hard to stay active but I enjoy almost all sports and am willing to try my hand at anything. I especially love being in the water, whether it's surfing, paddling outrigger canoes, or body surfing. I'm also a sucker for a good story, so I enjoy reading and watching films.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been raised in the church I grew up not knowing anything different, but the more I have learned the more the teachings "make sense". If God is the same yesterday and today and He loves us, why wouldn't He continue to communicate with us by revealing new scripture and by calling prophets. Certain things just ring true, like that families should be together forever. Despite all of the logical support that I have received for my membership in the church, I know through confirmation from the Spirit that this is the Lord's church. I know through answers to prayer and spiritual promptings that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that Joesph Smith was called to restore Christ's gospel and that today the Church is lead by the Savior. The members of the church, like myself, certainly aren't perfect. We say the wrong things and we have our opinions but I continue to go to church precisely because it is the best place for us to learn to be more like our Savior. It's hard being a member sometimes but I know it is worth it.

How I live my faith

I'm an active member of our congregation. I look forward to each Sabbath day for the chance to meet with my ward family and to learn about and hear their testimonies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Right now, I serve with young men by teaching lessons on Sundays and participating in scouting. As a holder of the priesthood, I feel I have a responsibility to lead and administer in the church especially but also in my everyday life. More than anything else I try to follow the example of the Savior. He showed us how to be humble and kind as He ate with sinners and knelt and washed the feet of His Apostles. I try to live as a disciple and servant of God our Father and Jesus Christ.
