Hi I'm Serena

I'm a sister. I'm an Oregonian. I'm a BYU student. I'm preparing to serve a mission in Mexico. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family. I have 5 awesome siblings, an amazing sister-in-law and 2 and half adorable nieces. I recently finished my freshman year at BYU and I plan to major in Elementary Education. In October I am leaving for my mission in Tijuana, Mexico. I am very excited to serve the Lord and the people of Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

This is Christ's church on the earth today. It brings me so much happiness. With this gospel and the blessings of the temple, I know that my family can be together for eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading from the scriptures and praying for strength and guidance each day. As one of our prophets, President Gordon B. Hinckley said, I "Try a little harder to be a little better." The church helps me to improve my life. Another way I live my faith is by preparing to serve a mission. As a missionary, I will help bring others to Christ by sharing what I know to be true.

Are Mormons Christians?

Serena
Yes, we are Christians. In the Book of Mormon, in 2 Nephi 25:26 it says: "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." Are we Christians? YES. We believe in Christ, and we believe that He lived and died for us. We try our best to be more like Him and to follow His example. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Serena
The Bible and the Book of Mormon Why do we need the Bible AND the Book of Mormon? In Mormon chapter 7, the prophet Mormon explains how we need both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. In verse 9 he explains the importance of having both records. “For behold, this [The Book of Mormon] is written for the intent that ye may believe that [The Bible]; and if ye believe that ye will believe this also; and if ye believe this ye will know concerning your fathers, and also the marvelous works which were wrought by the power of God among them.” The Book of Mormon is written to help us believe in the Bible, and the Bible is written to help us believe in the Book of Mormon. We need both. The Book of Mormon does not replace the Bible, and the Bible is not sufficient without the Book of Mormon. Both testify of Jesus Christ and help us to understand His gospel. Having both of these records helps me to know that God loves all of His children, not just those in a certain part of the world. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that they are true. They are ancient records written by prophets of God for our day, so that we can learn from them and draw closer to the Lord. I am so grateful to have both of these books in my life. I know that both are essential to the true gospel of Jesus Christ. These sacred scriptures contain the true word of God and help me to become more like Christ and live His gospel. Show more Show less
