Hi I'm Darren

I am a technology executive in Utah, the joys of my life are my beautiful wife and three fantastic kids.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City Utah and raised in nearby Bountiful by an extremely musical family, so growing up I learned to play the piano and other musical instruments. I began writing and recording music when I was 12 years old and have been composing ever since. We spent our winters skiing and summers hiking, camping and enjoying the lakes and mountains nearby. My parents taught me to work hard and be diligent in everything I did, which has stuck with me all these years. I worked through High School and College as a software developer for several companies. After graduating from the University of Utah in Computer Science, I continued to pursue a career in technology, including managing large global software teams. I met my sweetheart a few years after I completed a Mission for the Church in Puerto Rico, and soon after we were married for time and all eternity and now have three wonderful children.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was baptized while he was serving in the military. A fellow soldier, a Mormon, befriended my dad, taught him the Gospel and converted him. My mother was born and raised in the Church, and my parents met after my father completed his service in the Army, then also a Mormon they were married, and so my siblings and I were raised in the Church. Like all Mormons, I had to gain my own testimony of the Gospel, and my conviction occurred when I was preparing to serve a Mission for the Church, at 18 years of age. I read and reread the Book of Mormon several times, and prayed to know for myself if it was true. I remember receiving the answer I was seeking; it came to me like a burning feeling in my chest. I was then able to take that testimony to Puerto Rico, where I served for two years, serving the people there and teaching them the restored Gospel. My testimony grows regularly, as I traverse life’s many trials, each experience yields incremental knowledge and wisdom, which grows in me line upon line. I know with an absolute surety that Jesus is the Christ, our Savior, and His Church is restored once again upon the earth, which contains the same priesthood authority that He gave to His prophets and apostles we read about in the scriptures. Through Him we can return, with eternal families, to live in His presence once again.

How I live my faith

A most sacred obligation I have is to teach my children to live Christ-centered lives, to follow His example in all things and to serve others. I was taught by goodly parents to love the Lord and to be thorough in service, and I try to live up to those expectations each day. I enjoy serving in the Church, in whatever calling I’m asked to fill, and in any way I can. And finally, I try to exemplify the teachings of the Savior in my daily life, in work and interactions with others, to hopefully spread the joy that comes from living the Gospel.
