Hi I'm Elder Matos

It's true! & living the Gospel does indeed bring true happiness. The power of prayer is real!

About Me

I'm Marvin! I'm proud to represent both my countries Peru and Canada. My life centres around church, family, and sports. I have a huge passion for hockey and I'm thankful to have a healthy body that permits me to enjoy my fav. pastime. I am currently serving as 2nd Counselor in my YSA branch and I encourage all those who are YSA aged to attend YSA!! It's super fun serving and learning with people your age. Hockey is huge in Canada and I can't ever imagine not living in a hockey town but I do hope one day to move to California and perhaps bring some of that passion there as well. I've been called to the Belgium/Netherlands mission where I'll be teaching in Spanish! I am thankful for this great blessing

Why I am a Mormon

I can't imagine life any other way. I've been blessed to have been brought up in a family that lives the Gospel. As far back as I can remember I've always known that God lives, that the Atonement is real and that Joseph Smith really did see the Father and the Son. Read the Book of Mormon and find out for yourself!

How I live my faith

The world is full of distractions but we must not lose sight of an eternal perspective. I've made a habit of reading at least one chapter from the Book of Mormon everyday since I was baptised (2006-). Prayer is real and it allows us to communicate with our Father in Heaven. I make sure to always start my day with prayer, I pray before my activities, and I close my day in prayer too. Each prayer isn't a random act but rather a continuation of the last. This is how we can keep the admonition given in the book of Luke: to "pray always". Where much is given, much is expected. What other people would spend their weekdays at church? Mondays for FHE, Tuesdays for meetings, Wednesdays for Sports Night, Fridays for Institute, and of course three hours on Sunday. I love it!
