Hi I'm Christian Murillo

I'm from Houston, Texas. I love basketball and the Gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I began playing sports at the age of 4. I played soccer in a small league. Loved playing in the outdoors. But then I found another sport, basketball. I started playing at 8 years old. After a year or so, I knew I would like to play on the team at school when I got older. Once I got to 7th grade, I knew I had to prove my worth to the coach so I could play on the team. The day came where everyone found out who had made it. I wasn't one of those. I wasn't down on myself though. Summer came and I worked hard on my game. I did everything possible to make it come next season. The day came and I was nervous. I had a pretty bad first day at try outs. Though, I did well the next couple days. I made it. We won half of our games. Freshman and Sophomore year came and I played on my high school team. Off season Sophomore season my goal of playing all through high school came to an end. I injured my right knee so I couldn't play. I was still satisfied with the things I proved to everyone. After all, I was born with Hydrocephalus, I had too much water on my brain. I had to get surgery when I was 7 days old. As I grew up, it was more apparent that I couldn't use my left arm. I have minor movement on my left side. Yet I still proved I could play basketball in middle and high school. I also continue to play to this day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My grandfather was the one that made the best choice of his life and the family. My mom was the one that brought me and my brothers to church even when we had hard times. But thanks to that, we got through them. We've had so many blessings in our lives. I can say Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ work miracles...I'm one of them. Each and everyday I see why I am still here. To teach the Gospel. I'm serving in the Colorado Fort Collins Mission while waiting for my visa to serve in Brazil Fortaleza East Mission.. I LOVE GOD'S WORK!!! :)

How I live my faith

I love this Gospel I live in. It gives me the opportunity to help others and make them feel welcomed to our church even when they aren't members. When I was in the youth, I had the chance to serve as president in the ages of 12-13 and 14-15. It gave me the chance to be a leader at a young age and learn how to be a leader later on not only in church but in life as well. Now I have the calling of Auxiliary Secretary in my ward. So new members or members come to me when they need to know or move their records to or from the ward. I LOVE IT.
