Hi I'm Dave Beck

I was born in Utah, grew up in Montana. I am a Mormon and thank God for that every day.

About Me

I love the outdoors, especially camping and canoeing. My Father died when I was 11 but one of the last things he did before he passed away was get me started in Boy Scouts and I have been camping ever since. I also enjoy wood working and built my own canoe as well as several pieces of furniture. Currently I am working on bird house for our grand children and storage shed for our back yard. My wife and I have 17 grand children spread around the world and love every one of them, cause they are terrific. My career has been in energy conservation, I am a Mechanical Engineer and help large industrial and commercial customers optimize their energy usage. It has been great. I am currently retired and doing what ever is on the list next. Life is good, and the Gospel has made the goodness last for the eternities. Life is a joy, especially since our children are honest, worthwhile, loving, caring and useful members of their communities and are blessings to all they deal with.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been members of the Church for years. I grew up in an LDS home but could not say the church was true until I went away for basic training in the Air Force. It did not take me long to realize the gospel I had was very precious. It did not take long for me to realize that I could with all honesty say that I knew the Gospel was true and I was a part of it. In the many years between then and now, I have searched for short comings, discrepancies, errors and other things that might show otherwise but not one single thing has come up to show otherwise. I KNOW the Gospel is true. Just some of the people I wonder about. But then, I need the Gospel to improve too. That is what it is for. To help us become more like Christ. I guess some of us need more improvement than others do. Wonder where I stand?

How I live my faith

The youth are incredible! I have been honored to be Scoutmaster several times and am in awe with how much they want to learn. In addition, when they get to church, they are just as wonderful when being taught about their Savior and the precious gospel that will give them honorable direction in their lives. It has taken years to understand that the gospel is to be a blueprint for living life every day. I grew up with wonderful examples of it and so have been trying to do it ever since but life is sometimes hard. I go to church every Sunday and often have meetings in between that help me stay on course. Jesus did not shirk his duty so I should not shirk mine, which means I should serve where I am asked and needed most.
