Hi I'm Stephen

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I am now serving a full-time mission for the LDS Church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 2 years in Japan. I enjoy doing Rubik's cubes, listening to music, and ballroom dancing. I've ballroom danced for 5 years and am hoping to go to BYU and get on their ballroom dance teams. I have 3 younger brothers and one older sister.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know it is true. I have prayed about it and received the answer that it was true. I love the Spirit that I always feel at Church and can take with me in my daily life. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he translated the Book of Mormon from the golden plates. I know that the priesthood authority was lost, but was restored with this gospel and that when used righteously, it can perform miracles that change people's lives. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet today and that he receives revelation from God concerning the church. I know that God lives and loves every one of us, and that he wants us to be happy. I know that all that the church teaches is true and will help us to become happier, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I was the first assistant in the priest's quorum, I served as a home teacher for 3 families including a recent convert. I also would take the sacrament to members who were unable to come to sacrament meeting due to health issues. I am now going on a mission to Japan, where I will spend two years serving God, bringing the gospel to the world. I also try to be an example of being a follower of Christ at all times.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Stephen
Mormons believe that we can be with our families beyond the grave, and that we will still be families, not just people who knew each other. This makes it important to receive ordinances in the temple so that we can have those cherished relationships for eternity, not just this life. Because of this belief we try hard to keep good family relationships so that we will be happy with the state of our relationships and families. Because of the happiness that it brings, we want to share it with the world so that they can have the same happiness. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Stephen
The Word of Wisdom is a commandment that Joseph Smith received regarding our bodies and what we put in them. It tells us how to eat properly, and foods that will benefit us; as well as tells us that we need to exercise and gain spiritual health. It warns against the use of tobacco, alcohol, coffee and tea, illegal drugs, and any other substance that is harmful and addictive because it takes away our agency to choose when we have to satisfy our addictions. It seems restrictive to a lot of people, but through following it we truly are blessed. We are blessed both spiritually and temporally when we follow the Word of Wisdom. The Word of Wisdom has recently been backed up by scientific research regarding a lot of these rules of health even though it was given to the church almost two centuries ago. I love the Word of Wisdom and the blessing I receive daily from following it. I couldn't imagine my life without the Word of Wisdom and its blessings. Show more Show less
