Hi I'm Kaylia

I grew up in British Columbia, Canada. I love the outdoors. I am a missionary in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. I am a Mormon

About Me

I love people, traveling, sports this earth and dancing. As a teenager I always had a desire to do what is right and be the best that I can be. That desire grew as I studied the scriptures and went through trials with Gods help. I learned that Christ is the Savior of the world and that he felt the pain that I felt and knows how to help me overcome it through faith in him and his atonement. As I have prayed to God in the name of Jesus Christ I have come to feel of their love for me and others. This brought me to want to share that in anyway that I could. As a missionary I get to do that all day everyday and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

I know that the Church is true. It has blessed my life and the lives of my family members so much. As a Mormon I am able to follow the example and teachings of Jesus Christ which bring meaning and joy into my life. I have been able to see glimpses of my divine potential as I have lived my faith. These glimpses have helped me get through some of my toughest times. As a Mormon I have learned that trials can be blessing when I seek God and learn from him. Each trial in life gives us all the opportunity to learn and grow and ultimately become stronger children of God. As I align my life with the standards of the church I feel stronger because I know that Jesus is there to help me. As I pray and study the Book of Mormon I am able to find the answers to the questions of my heart and soul. As I listen to God's called Prophet I am lead closer to Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the commandments and striving to be the best that I can with God's help. Prayer and scripture study really helps keep me on track. The more I keep the standards of the church the more free I feel. I also find great joy in service. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is all about service. I have served in the church through Church Callings. I have been a Ward Librarian, a Second Counselor in the Women's organization in my congregation at school. As a second counselor I was in charge of facilitating activities for the women of the ward (congregation). I have also been a Young Single Adult leader. As a YSA leader I have helped plan Monday night activities and regional activities. I have also been a Nursery leader. As a Nursery leader I helped teach and care for children ages 18 months to 3 years old for two hours each Sunday. I have learned that service comes in many forms. The best service is the kind that isn't put on stage for others to see. I also live my faith by doing all I can to see others the way that Jesus see's them. He loves us and knows our pains and confusion. As a missionary I am learning to be able to identify that Christlike love in myself so that I can truly help others see the light in their life and find lasting direction and purpose. I know that as I do this that I am able to gain the kind of happiness that can last forever when I continue to learn and grow towards Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that God is our loving Heavenly Father and that he has a body of flesh and bones. We believe that he loves us so much that he cries when we cry and rejoices when we do what is right. He is there for us and wants us to communicate with him. I know that I can communicate with him through sincere prayer. I start prayer by addressing him i.e. Dear Heavenly Father. Then I thank him for my blessings, tell him the thoughts and feelings in my heart and mind and ask him for answers to my questions. We always close our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ. The most important part of prayer is that you are communication with the Lord. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

In order to know the truth for yourself you need to act. Act in prayer and faith. It is very important to pray always and ask God if the things you are reading and learning are true. Read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. There is a promise in Moroni 10: 3-5 (at the end of the Book of Mormon) that encourages all who read it to pray in faith that God will answer your prayer. I have done that and my prayer has been answered through the power of the Holy Ghost. If you don't know what this all means ask the missionaries. I am one of them and know that they truly can help you come closer to Christ. Show more Show less
